Château d'Yquem
Y Ygrec Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend
There’s nothing like the excitement of head to head competition. Unfortunately, that excitement ends quickly when one of the participants has to withdraw. The 2013 was extremely advanced with a heavy petrol nose. The 2014 on the other hand was a great example of what this wine should be. A clean nose of grapefruit and grass but not in that overbearing way that can be the case with SB. Once in the mouth SB steps aside and the Semillon becomes the “boss”. Apricot and pears pop up and the initial dose of mouth watering acidity gives way to a wonderful roundness that allows for a long finish.

14’ d'Yquem "Y" 75% SB 25% Semillon.
Let this warm up & open up in the glass for a good 30+ minutes. Medium gold color. Yellow/green apple, apricot, white peach, pear, hint of honey. wrapped in light/medium acidity. Everything plays together beautifully. Wonderfully made wine.
Want to thank Ronnie for not just picking up this wine and throwing it into his wine cellar for the last year +. Just being an all-around great guy. Thanks again for everything. @Ron R . Wanted to give this a proper post from last nights dinner.

Sheer brilliance!
Loved this SB... First time tasting this. Worth every cent. Son-in-law in the foreground.

Lemony green. Rich and floral nose coated in honeysuckle, lilacs, sweet peaches, honey and citrus. Medium acidity (6/10) and well rounded with a medium minus body. A bit sweet on the palate with tons of citrus fruits, stone fruits, white flowers and lemon grass. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2028.

Mar 3rd, 2019Hint of honey, lots of tropical fruits and peaches, pineapples, mangoes, citrus peel, a little bit of botrytis as well. Lovely nose. Med acidity, soft texture with ginger, tropical fruit, passion fruit and honey finish. Everything spot on despite there's some heat on the finish. 14% alc. 2014 vintage
