04 has always been one of my absolute favorite vintages from Raveneau. This outstanding showing of 04 Chapelot was a perfect example. It’s stunningly complex nose makes it difficult to put down and upon first smell you’ll smile from ear to ear. And it’s no less expressive on the palate. It’s so perfectly balanced right now with its yellow fruit and earthy/mineral elements. A stunning bottle that’s in a perfect place. — 3 years ago
The 1989 La Conseillante is one of the top performers in Pomerol and arguably now one of the best values. This bottle confirms that exuberance and joie-de-vivre on the nose, displaying the telltale crushed violets in bloom, with precious but controlled red and black fruit underneath. The palate is sumptuous from the start, presenting cashmere tannin and perhaps a little more glycerine in this bottle. The bravura finish leaves you grinning from ear to ear. Stunning, and it will remain on its plateau for many years. Tasted at the 1989 Bordeaux dinner at Hatched in London. (Neal Martin, Vinous, September 2019) — 5 years ago
Grassy and vegetal notes on the nose, with hints of ear and green apple evening things out, with a medium, surprisingly syrupy body. The palate was rich, with a slight oaky characteristic, and floral palate but a very vegetal finish. Very interesting new world alternative to New Zealand Sav Blanca’s I feel. — 2 years ago
Nice with the bright Vietnamese shrimp/pig ear/carrot/daikon salad, and ground beef rolls wrapped in piper lolot leaves! — 3 years ago
Love this value wine from Michele Chiarlo. It's produced on Gavi from the Cortese grape. Light citrus notes of lemon, melon and crisp green apple. If you hold this wine to your ear it will whisper a floral bouquet of lavender. Nice finish. Great paired with seafood, pasta, or any lighter dish. — 5 years ago
Superfluous adding a numerical figure to wines (& the ideals behind them) that impacted my life in such a positive manner. Fun to see how this opens up over the next hour. 😊 from ear to ear. — 3 years ago

Black olive, rye crust, bran, olive wood, wood ear, black currant, cassis, and gravel nose. Black and tart cherries, rose stem, mulberry, cassis, mocha cigar, baking chocolate, plum skins. Elegant, if a little closed.
