Garofoli

Piancarda Rosso Conero Montepulciano 2018

A balanced and thankfully minimally oaked Rosso Conero. Dark berries, turned earth, graphite, and a little licorice on the nose. Nicely managed texturally (Montepulciano can be a little grainy) it’s got almost Bordeaux-like restraint, but with a bit more dark berry fruit. Great lasagna wine! — a month ago

Fattoria Coroncino

Cenobita Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore 2019

2021 autumn. This is a special bottling for the vintage, made with botrytized fruit, but the effect is subtle and enhances, rather than dominates, the character of the wine. There’s some lush apricot and honey to go with the typical salty, mineral, flower and almond notes. — a month ago

Puerto Viejo

Reserva Special Valle de Curico Malbec 2016

Vinho bom, encorpodo, mas com sabor meio envelhecido, dando a impressão de que não tinha estrutura para o tempo que maturou na garrafa. — a month ago

Casal di Serra Vecchie Vigne Classico Superiore Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi 2020

2020 vintage.
This is always a fantastic wine for the price.
White flowers, white peach and wet stone on the nose.
Fruity and floral with golden apples, yellow peach.
Intense, round and fresh with lots of citrus and green almond on the finish. Beautiful citrus and mineral finish with one not overwhelming the other.
We sautéed local Ling Cod fillets and Spot Prawns with this.

Azienda Agricola Bucci

Classico Superiore Verdicchio dei Castelli Di Jesi 2019

This is a lovely and under appreciated wine that, for roughly $20, gives an enormous amount of pleasure. It has a silky texture with high acidity and well-balanced flavors of golden apple, lemon, pear, hay, chamomile and enough stony minerality to give a saline impression on the finish. It’s flavors are intense enough it can match up not only with light dishes like sushi or shrimp, but more pronounced flavors of grilled fish or chicken, and especially pastas like cacio e pepe or fettuccine Alfredo. Versatile as well as delicious — a month ago

Malacari

Villa Malacari Rosso Conero Montepulciano 2016

A dense Rosso from Marche. When drunk First time all jagged edges & needing to stretch with air. This time much more polished with less air time, though I suppose this would still be Considered “rustic”. Wild blackberries, cassis, & just lovely overall black fruit profile, medium plus acidity, & something feral on front palate. A lot of wine for about 16$. — a month ago

Bodega Comando

La Bruja Avería Rozas de Puerto Real Grenache 2019

Preposterously good for its price point. Has a wonderful blackberry-tinged, brambly, feral Spanish garrigue thing going on on the nose. Burgundian approach to Grenache with minimal extraction and lively acids. Sweet, smokey, tart, salty and bright on the palate. An almost floral herbal aspect. Fantastic. — a month ago
