Poggio Di Sopra

Canalicchio di Sopra

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 1990

What a beautiful wine. Sweet red fruit with a little funk on the nose. Beautiful choreographed dance between cedar wood, white pepper, red fruit and maybe a little orange zest(?) lead to a subtle beautiful sweet finish that lingers for a solid minute. Need more of this in my life. What a wine. Served with lacquered duck — 3 hours ago

Bòggina A Val d'Arno di Sopra Sangiovese 2016

Not your typical sangiovese. Instead of the herbs flavor it is replaced by a mineral driven flavor but the cherries are all here. Not sure how it will age kept 2 to see long term...not a sangio for a crowd used to italian wine very particular style — 2 days ago

Poggio dei Gorleri

Shalok Riviera Ligure di Ponente Granaccia 2015

The wine producer Poggio dei Gorleri, from the small hamlet Gorleri, is located high above the Ligurian coast near Imperia, called the Ligure di Ponente, Italy. The producers’ focus is predominantly on the Pigato grape, delivering minerally, white fruit, very fresh white wines. This Shalok stands out from the white wines produced. Made of 100% Granaccia/Grenache/Alicante, this wine is bursting with red fruits. Quite dark with flavours of berry/blackberry fruit, some chocolate, some wood, with very smooth tannines. Only 1,122 bottles produced. — 2 days ago

Enzo Tiezzi

Poggio Cerrino Rosso Di Montalcino Sangiovese 2014

A little angry, lean and uneven to start. Needed a night after being open to calm down and integrate. A relaxed rosso drinks better: strawberry, black cherry, red plum, licorice and herbs. I love the classic profile. I never thought I’d say this, but I don’t love the aggressive acidity - probably the result of a cool and difficult vintage - that is waging war with my stomach lining. This lean wine needs food. I’d suggest something richer and fattier than the Ropa Vieja (night 1) and Amy’s frozen vegetarian lasagna (night 2). — 11 days ago
