[note for the Pax Marine Terraces Chenin Blanc 2021, Santa Cruz Mountains] 300 feet above sea level. Whole cluster, 4 months in 60% new Austrian puncheons 500L 40% neutral barrique. Pale lemon, lemon juice, lean and crisp, salty savory on the nose too. Very broad shouldered textural and phenolic on the palate. — 2 years ago
Deep purple in color; black plums, black cherries, and black currant on the nose; medium acidity; medium plus tannins; tastes like black fruit jam, and eucalyptus with a long finish. 91 points Jason and I like this wine. Leslie and Nellie didn't. 91 points — 6 months ago

A delicious Californian Gamay with a bit of age on it. The nose shows ripe cherry scents, hay, cola, sugar cane, a bit of mushroom and leather too. There is a tiny bit of oak lurking in the rear too. It's not reminiscent of beaujolais, but you can see how it's related. The palate is delicious with a great acid drive, a very mouthfeel, some width, a rather thin matter, nice cherry and cola notes all along, a bit of a tannic wall in the rear before a finish that goes on for a while with cherry, cola and hay. It's quite solid and fun ! It's a lighter, fruitier and funnier version of gamay than more serious and extracted examples from nice sites in the Beaujolais region. I'm glad I could find it in the wine cellar / bar we celebrated my birthday in! — 4 days ago
