Kimmeridgian soil yes, Chardonnay no, Chablis no. Full chalk Sauvignon Blanc from the top producer in Sancerre. It is a thing of beauty. Pear, peach and citrus tastes finishing bone dry. This wine is a beauty and will age very well. Only to be surpassed by “les monts damnees” from the same producer. For those of you thinking that Sancerre is a simple glass of wine to be drunk as an apero or with some seafood., get a bottle of this and be blown away. Pop and pour. A brilliant light golden color. On the nose: floral, tangerine, minerals, and a little grapefruit. Taste: A dry light body with pear, minerals, and lemon peel. Went nicely with the fresh oysters!
