Painted Rock

Triple Seven Cellars

Atlas Rock Red 2014

Nerd night at Vinology with our wine club friends.
.
This BDX blend offered a very classic expression of crushed gravel, dark red fruits, spices, and timber. Pretty enjoyable; wouldn’t mind circling back on it. Also pretty neat that some of the founders are native Houstonians.

Domaine Drouhin

Rose Rock Eola - Amity Hills Chardonnay 2016

Lovely restraint and silkiness. Melon, white peach, quince and toasted nut flavors. Oak very well integrated and the acid is lively and refreshing. — 16 days ago

Castoro Cellars

Reserve Whale Rock Vineyard Tempranillo 2015

Three weeks later and I’m craving another taste of this... See my previous notes but this time: moderately extracted ruby red. Some black currant in nose initially. Strawberry and raspberry jam flavors, some seed bitterness and tannin chewiness, otherwise well balanced. Slightly oily, cherry and citrus peel aftertaste emerges after 30 minutes, black pepper on nose and in aftertaste after 45. Light to moderate skin astringency after an hour — 17 days ago

Flat Rock Cellars

Gravity Twenty Mile Bench VQA Pinot Noir

Had this wine May 17 - 20, 2019. Cloudy garnet red. Medium bodied. Extra dry. Cherry, strawberry, wild pansies and a hint of black pepper. It has a distinct element to it that I have noticed with other Ontario reds that I have not quite been able to put my finger on yet. It was also a little acidic on the finish. I did not, however, notice the earthiness that all the reviews that I have read mentioned. I can understand why this wine received great reviews and was noted as a bench mark for Pinot Noir in Ontario. $34.95 LCBO — a month ago

Turtle Rock

G2 Vineyard Red Blend 2016

Burnt rubber, tar, asphalt, and barberry on the nose. Tight front with notes of black currant, red currant, raspberry, blackberry, boysenberry, & smoke. Lush fruit in the middle and a dry, short finish. Lingering smoke & plum. Medium acidity. — 10 days ago

Blue Rock

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Blueberry, raspberry, freshly baked fruit pie, great cab. Not sure I like it twice as much as baby blue but delicious nonetheless. — 4 days ago
