Paco & Lola

Rías Baixas Albariño 2020

An earthy nose masks the floral arrangement one expects. There are some herbal elements there, but more along savory lines. The palate shows apples, peaches and a shovel of the earth of Rías Baixas. Nice acidity and a pleasantly earthy finish cap a wonderfully different style for the region. — 5 years ago

Francisco Puga Y Familia

Contemporaneo Blend de Tintas 2021

"in the nose and on the palate, you'll find blackberries, blueberries, black pepper and spice, with notes of tobacco and vanilla floating in the distance. This wine spends 12 months in French Oak. Paco puga is always doing something fascinating, making Burgundy style wine with Malbec, say or challenging three friends to each create a separate wine than blending them all together with his own. It's always out of left field & it always works." — 2 years ago

Bodegas La Val

Rías Baixas Albariño 2020

This wine also has an earthy tone to its nose, but not as strong as Paco & Lalo. The citrus aromas come through nicely and are accompanied by a light floral bouquet. The palate is loaded with lemon and lime and the acidity is gentle enough to pair with something spicy. — 5 years ago

Prisma Calatayud Garnacha 2018

Bodega Paco Mulero Prisma Garnacha 2018 Calarayud DO

A very good surprise. Licorice and red forest berries on the nose, a nice, full bodied palate with a strong acid backbone, a nice fruit all along, some width and matter on the sides, a nice round mid palate with a bit of tannins which give a slight drying effect and leave way to a tiny bit of bitterness in the end, amongst red and black forest berries notes.

Valdeorras Godello

Very smooth Godello. Sweet on the nose, then a very light apple taste turning almost sour but balancing off cleanly for a very fresh finish. Leaves a very subtle nice after taste like the lightest cider ever. Easy to drink, interesting without being imposing — 3 years ago

Las Uvas de la Ira Vino del Pueblo El Real de San Vincente Garnacha 2014

Just getting started on this bottle. Garnacha that is fresh and crispy brings me to bliss. Spain should be a country we love more. Cycling, prosciutto, olives, wine, futbol, the Canary Islands, Paco de Lucia, Andrés Segovia, Charo, Seinfeld’s episode about the third tenor...”The Other Guy”. About to have some spicy bruschetta, then eat some pizza while listening to The New Gems. — 7 years ago

No 12 Rias Baixas Albariño

Pear on the nose. Round in the mouth. Ripe juicy apple, warm river rock. Peach pit. Hope. Just barely fall. A contemplative flavor. New Jazz that’s not studio but soulful and sung by a haunting female voice. Lyrical. — 8 years ago
