Wanted an inexpensive steak wine tonight, and I got lucky with this one. Bold blackberries and cassis, yes, but this wine has poise and elegance. Wonderfully balanced with a luxurious mouthfeel, I'd be satisfied spending 3x what I did ($18)

Hadn’t had Zin in a while and was pleasantly surprised with this one. Wonderful bouquet of dark berries at the first sip, with blueberry, blackberry and raspberry coming through. Touch of spice and the whole combo went very well with our BBQ ribs. — 6 years ago

Medium reddish purple in color with aromas of red berries, cherry cola, spice cake, and hints of earth. Medium bodied with good concentration and balance on the palate finishing with silky tannins. Sourced from their estate vineyard in the Ribbon Ridge AVA including a mixture of Pinot Noir clones planted between 1984 and 1990 in thin marine sedimentary soils. Made with one third whole clusters and only 8% new French oak. 14% alcohol. — 8 years ago

End of my Broc holiday shipment. Light and very tart zin. Blackberry, plum, and craisins. A bit of earthy spiciness, and faint char on the nose. 12.5% abv. With Gouda and mini toasts. One last indulgence before going back to the daily grind. — 6 months ago

What a find. Not cheap ($50-70ish?) but as got the prices, so go the expectations and this wine from the Bedrock wine Company surpasses the lofty expectations I had for it. After a good, thorough decant this red blend opened up in a righteous fashion, with rich red fruits on the nose and one of the more ‘powerful yet graceful’ textures on the palate I’ve experienced in a long time. We had it with ribeye steaks and it was a meal for the books as the wine evolved in the glass. Powerful but graceful, stem to stern. — 9 months ago

This was rich and delicious. It was fair enough for Suckling to pose the question “Is this the best NZ Pinot so far”? Ticks all the requisite boxes - ripe red and black fruits, a creamy texture, a nice garrigue herbal note. This Pinot lives up to the gorgeous site - one of the most awesome views you will see from the top of the vineyard over Lake Wanaka. Most impressive. — 5 months ago

Color of ruby plus purple. Nose of crayon, aldehyde, some strawberry, oak, some tobacco leaves, a bit spice in the nasal cavity. Nose is plenty. Taste is silky, slight sweet, ripe grapes, a bit zest, vanilla, a bit peppery, oak, almost no tannins, tasty and soft. Aftertaste shows some more oak and warmth. A good one. — 6 years ago
