Unreal herbaceous depth here where rosemary and allspice hide their monstrous love child. Black, white and green peppercorns blast from a hollowed core sample of graphite, and igneous matter just above the roof of hell. But fear not mystic traveller, this is simply the expanse that shields the event horizon through which our universe has fallen. Yes, we are scorched and terrified, our very bone marrow boiling, our teeth dressed in ash cloth and dusty black earth, here is the golden hand of life pulling us back slowly, with tangerine lavas, smoldering lemon oils, to cardamom, hazelnut oil, the oxidative brawn of sherry, toffee, mocha and finally the cool kiss of mint, as we leave the burning sands and cross into the unexpected joy of the dangerous jungle. Better here in the tangle of living cruelty, where there is shade and dark water. — 2 months ago
Creamy, fruity smooth... amazing value for money — 4 months ago
I don't particularly care for peated whisky, but this bottle was nothing short of brilliant. The finesse was absolutely mind-boggling - not something I had expected out of a dram made with high levels of peat smoke, at 67 ppm.
Again, I'm not very good with whiskies and it's not often I write notes on it, but this just demanded the attention. Perhaps the best peated whisky I've had.
Tasted neat. Very elegant smoke, if that even makes sense. Neither harsh, nor overpowering. There's a citrusy, spice box, and sea-spray element to the nose too. Palate feels quite rich, kinda like smoking a cigar and eating creme caramel with candied pineapples. The finish is smooth, long, spicy, and smoky. With ice/water, I got more of the oak, but the more delicate citrusy elements started appearing on the palate. The smoke also feels more savoury than cigar-like, kinda like that smokiness in smoked foods. A real joy to sip on.
NB: Distilled 2006, bottled 2016. Another user's tasting note sums this up very well - strong peat, light scotch 🤣 — 5 months ago
$30 for a 12 year its relatively smooth, not a lot of depth/flavor. But decent for a cheap every day scotch. — 3 months ago
Utterly fantastic. Got turned on to this from a guy at a scotch place on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. Wasn’t at all familiar with “single cask” bottlings...but clearly with the right person making the selection, the result can be off the charts. Easily among the top 10 scotches I’ve ever had, this is brilliant. Great nose that provides layers of sweet malt, some molasses, and a hint of peat, this has a beautiful mouthfeel with an expansive palate that just blossoms with hints of sherry, vanilla, and spice, ending with a seamless, lingering finish. Awesome. — 5 months ago
