Daou Vineyards

Soul Of A Lion Adelaida District Red Blend 2020

Revisiting the Daou flagship. ‘20 vintage. Very mellow tannins. Smooth and silky with concentrated fruit. Dense, and long finish. Delicious. B55 treat. — 4 months ago

Château Musar

Bekaa Valley Red Blend 1999

The 99 is a favorite vintage for the sweetness of the fruit and the intense Mediterranean notes but this bottle was a little short on the finish. — 8 months ago

Domaine Houchart

Côtes de Provence Rosé Blend 2021

The description: The colour is salmon, light pink rose. The aromas show fresh strawberries, cranberry and hints of white pepper. The palate is where the romance is. The texture is crisp almost crunchy, which brings out the fresh strawberry and red tree fruit characters. This wines truly refreshes the palate… and soul.
The opinion. Perfect for quaffing on the deck and great value. Definitely buying in a dozen for summer.

Sine Qua Non

Body & Soul White Rhone Blend 2007

2007 vintage. Opened around 50 degrees. Decanted and kept in the 58-62 degree range with the decanter placed atop an (mostly) ice bath. Tasted after 25 minutes and 4.5 hours. Heavy body. Just enough acidity to slowly propel this effort along all palate phases. Total showstopper. Overlook/dismiss/avoid the SQN whites at your own peril. 2.15.24. — 10 months ago

'Quinta da Manoella' Vinhas Velhas Red Blend 2012

Brought back from winery. Cork fell apart but no issues. Blueberry coffee nose with bursting fruit and subtle tannins and vanilla. . Great mouthful. Would rate higher if less oak taste but delicious. WS said through 2022 but not over hill. — 7 months ago

Hubert Lamy

Clos de la Chatenière Vieilles Vignes Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Chardonnay 2013

A bit disjointed. Heaps of oak then a bunch of acid on the finish. Missing the heart and soul of the wine. Had the ‘13 criot barard montrachet and I would rate that in the top 5 wines of my life. Maybe it needs more time? Madi LOVED it for the record. With schnitzel and gravy. — 2 years ago
