Notes on four bottles over the four years since release (2023-26) show a wine that maintained character and freshness one might not associated with ‘aged’ rosé. Early on, it leaned into grapefruit, rose, and minerality and more recently, while it held onto a nearly effervescent acidity and very floral nose, showed some herbaceousness (or ‘the whole flower garden’ in my notes) and a Concord grape element. Deep straw in the glass. Nose is buzzing with electric orchard fruit and honeycomb. Ripe citrus, golden apple, and faint tropics on the palate. White tea and honey. Super dry at 13%. Killer. — 6 months ago

My experience w Becker Riesling is they demand patience, air, & time. As a ‘22 & the lower end of the price spectrum ( for Becker- abt 23$) , this bottling felt as closed as a clam but peeking through were dry notes of salt taffy, hearts of palm, white pith fruits, & a saline nature to the whole affair. Decant the hell out of it or revisit in 3-4 years. — 8 months ago

Total sleeper: while the label simply says ‘Syrah’, the reality in the making of it is that it’s a co-fermentation of 85% Syrah from some of Bedrock’s prized vineyards and (about) about 15% Viognier. And man does it work- particularly for the price.

This wine is absolutely gorgeous! Give it a 30 min rest in the glass. Bright ripe fruit nose. Silky mouthfeel, the perfectly ripe black and blue fruit comes forth, followed by intense minerality, soft yet grippy tannins leaving a slightly chalky mouthfeel. So elegant, such finesse. Graphite, black licorice, blueberry pie, baking spices, hint of mocha. Superb medium-long finish. It’s this experience that makes Dr Crane one of my favorite vineyards. Some nice florals on the nose, a little bloody and meaty; moderately complex. Palate with fine grained tannins, red and black fruits; some chalky minerals, but a pretty big dose of brett unfortunately. Still, the fruit does come through, with a moderate finish. Day 2; less brett and more fruit, still tight, needs 5 years but second day is much better — 3 months ago

This is fantastic. A lot of fresh fruit on the nose, berries, there’s cocoa, eucalyptus, flowers, some wood, cinnamon. Smells amazing. Palate is big but balanced. Not a lot of alcohol. Some cedar, a lot of berries, baking spice, chocolate, some brighter fruit too like apple and watermelon oddly. It all works. Finish lingers. I’m impressed! — 6 months ago

Pop n pour. Given that it’s 70% Mourvèdre, the color is surprisingly light. (There’s 25% Grenache and 5% Syrah too.) Medium color saturation. Inviting nose of a melange of ripe berries and a smoky embers note. Crushed rock behind that. Soft and intensely flavored in the mouth, with the berries less prominent, jousting with dark earthy and pleasantly vegetal notes. Soft but balanced acids and tannins almost silky. Really nice. Terrific value at $25 from WTSO. — 9 months ago
