Bedrock’s 2022 Rosé Ode to Lulu, a blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Syrah is one of the more complete Rosés readers will come across. Deep and beautifully layered, Ode to Lulu is a complex wine that will be at home either as an aperitif or as a companion at the dinner table. Rich, red-toned fruit, crushed flowers and subtle earthy notes all open effortlessly. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2023)

Notes on four bottles over the four years since release (2023-26) show a wine that maintained character and freshness one might not associated with ‘aged’ rosé. Early on, it leaned into grapefruit, rose, and minerality and more recently, while it held onto a nearly effervescent acidity and very floral nose, showed some herbaceousness (or ‘the whole flower garden’ in my notes) and a Concord grape element. Always lovely with food and a great value.

The ‘22 Lulu is a beautiful off orange blush with grapefruit, rose and peach on the nose. It’s layered with fruit and minerals and, while still an easy drinker, offers more than your typical California rosé.
