La Boisselée Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2016

Partnership between Barroul and Kermit Lynch. A lot more fruit than I was expecting. Nice wine. 12 barrels from 6 vineyards. All schist soils, really fruit driven. — a month ago

Cristal Brut Champagne Chardonnay Pinot Noir Blend 2005

A very expansive nose. Succulent bright fruit with lemon, yeast, limestone. Really light and powerful with good length. Refreshing, zesty and delicious. — 5 days ago

Bourgogne Chardonnay 2016

Domestic chores day, so just now getting to the relaxing part of the afternoon, finally.

Sweet Chardonnay fruits, yummy oak influence but not overdone, revealing itself further as the wine warms in the glass.

Enjoying ourselves on the patio this afternoon, watching our (2) female and (1) male Ruby-throated Hummingbirds pick over our excessively overgrown patch of Bee Balm.

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Hermitage Syrah 1993

This was (despite the consensus that said it was an awful vintage) all about elegance . Lovely fragrant nose of shoe polish, leather and earth. In the mouth black fruit , pepper and gamey flavors on a moderate finish . Elegance personified . — 3 days ago

@Ira Schwartz I wouldn’t personally classify 1994, 2006, 2007, and 2008 as off vintages, but some might and recent Chave Hermitages from all three have been splendid. I also had a surprisingly good 2002 a few years ago. I’ve also had good luck in the past with the 1993 and 1987, though it has been a long time since I’ve had those years.

Salix Chenin St. Saphorin 2016

Color : White
Wine estate : Louis Bovard
Designation : Lavaux
Name : Salix - Chenin Blanc
Country : Switzerland
Vivino : 4.5/5
Note : Louis Bovard makes bio-dynamic culture and has introduced in the Lavaux new grape varieties such as Chenin Blanc. The name of Salix comes from the Latin word meaning the willow, with which one braided the branches to make baskets of vintage. A golden yellow straw robe with a nose of citrus, pineapple and mineral. Once in the mouth, the explosion of flavor with a nice acidity and a taste of citrus and apple. The final is excellent, it remains in the mouth and perfectly accompanied a fish.

Domaine Jean-Louis Tribouley

Orchis Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes Grenache Blend 2013

100% biodynamically-grown old vine Grenache. Fair amount of brett imposes on an otherwise interesting nose of deep, tangy black raspberry fruit. Some nice clean, stony minerality too. Surprisingly for a Grenache, you can also sense in the nose that the acids are very bright, and the sip confirms this. Dense, very tangy, and with some nice stoniness, but I find the brett a little much (others may not mind as much). Drying, mouthwatering finish. Can’t believe the acids on this. — 5 days ago

Agreed on this. Latour produced great stuff on the low and high ends of their portfolio. The stuff in the middle is, in my opinion, as you described.

Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay 2010

The grand cru aromatics leap from the glass. Smokey petrol, flint, meyer lemon. Basic YUM. The quintessential montrachet flavor palate. Round, lovely, and bold with elegance and style. What a phonomenal great wine. This is what happens to chardonnay when it goes to heaven- a quote from Elizabeth. Can I get some more please?!?!? — 2 days ago
