Domestic chores day, so just now getting to the relaxing part of the afternoon, finally.

Sweet Chardonnay fruits, yummy oak influence but not overdone, revealing itself further as the wine warms in the glass.

Enjoying ourselves on the patio this afternoon, watching our (2) female and (1) male Ruby-throated Hummingbirds pick over our excessively overgrown patch of Bee Balm.

@Ira Schwartz I wouldn’t personally classify 1994, 2006, 2007, and 2008 as off vintages, but some might and recent Chave Hermitages from all three have been splendid. I also had a surprisingly good 2002 a few years ago. I’ve also had good luck in the past with the 1993 and 1987, though it has been a long time since I’ve had those years.

Note : Louis Bovard makes bio-dynamic culture and has introduced in the Lavaux new grape varieties such as Chenin Blanc. The name of Salix comes from the Latin word meaning the willow, with which one braided the branches to make baskets of vintage. A golden yellow straw robe with a nose of citrus, pineapple and mineral. Once in the mouth, the explosion of flavor with a nice acidity and a taste of citrus and apple. The final is excellent, it remains in the mouth and perfectly accompanied a fish.

Louis Bovard fait de la culture bio-dynamique et a introduit dans le Lavaux des nouveaux cépages comme ce Chenin Blanc. Le nom de Salix vient du terme latin signifiant le saule, avec lequel on tressait les branches pour faire des paniers de vendange. Une robe dorée jaune paille avec un nez d’agrumes, ananas et minéral. Une fois en bouche, l’explosion de saveur avec une belle acidité et un goût d’agrumes et de pomme. Le final est excellent, il reste bien en bouche et accompagné parfaitement un poisson.

Orchis Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes Grenache Blend 2013

100% biodynamically-grown old vine Grenache. Fair amount of brett imposes on an otherwise interesting nose of deep, tangy black raspberry fruit. Some nice clean, stony minerality too. Surprisingly for a Grenache, you can also sense in the nose that the acids are very bright, and the sip confirms this. Dense, very tangy, and with some nice stoniness, but I find the brett a little much (others may not mind as much). Drying, mouthwatering finish. Can’t believe the acids on this. — 5 days ago
