Needed a little time to unwind and then gave up the goods. All one could want from these parts. — 18 days ago
Starting off the Thanksgiving week with my in-laws.
Similar to the 2017, but much more expressive on all fronts. Nose has blood orange and fresh cut herbs. Palate is lively; Pinot saignée with red berries, light citrus and good acidity balance.
A pop & pour star, can satisfy a crowd while easily keeping your expenses in check. — 10 days ago
Still developing, all business at this point, nothing flashy but has it together. All of the classical northern Rhône things are there (violets, pepper, smoked meat, herbs et al). A nice way to experience the maestro without shelling out big(ger) bucks for the Hermitage — 7 days ago
Fresh citrus, fresh stone fruit, and white flowers on the nose. Lees and brioche with moderate level of toastiness on the palate. Elevated acidity. Base wine from 2012. — 9 days ago
Slightly Acidic has a semi dry finish with mix of bright and dark fruit. Best if decanted. — a month ago
Dinner with friends tonight, light notes if any.
This bottle is so over the top, and we love it, not even a 1er Cru! Prior notes apply:
Nose is the epitome of pineapple core with buttered popcorn and white flowers sneaking around.
Palate exudes tropical fruits, pineapple, papaya, lychee, light mango...All with low acidity making this so ridiculously enjoyable. — 12 days ago
Chave may be incapable of making anything less than a satisfying bottle, especially from his Hermitage St. Joseph vineyards. This is by no means one of his marquis cuvées. But it is rich with dried currant, ox blood, and herbaceous flavors on the palate. Touch of oak as well. Not much on the nose. — 13 days ago
It is almost unfair to rate this. A welcoming nose of citrus and apples leads to an austere mineral driven palate.
The finish is suffocated by an unyielding youthful structure . It did not feel like this vintage had the robust levels of acidity that the 2008 demonstrated.. — 8 days ago
Saline - sea salt. Ripe peach and apricot, Meyer lemon, hints of tropical, plenty of Brioche, cream, vanilla, and sweet baking spices. Especially toasty on the palate. Elevated acidity. — 9 days ago
