Belle Glos

Las Alturas Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021

Really tasty. Perhaps the first Cali Pinot noir that I’ve enjoyed, also probably because it drinks more like a zin. Dark opaque red. Slightly smokey. Full bodied. Bought it on sale for $35. Would love to have again. Had with apps on New Year’s Eve, but would be great with food and could even hold up to a heartier meal (steak, etc). — 18 hours ago

Château Léoville-Las Cases

Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

Tight as a drum at open. Loosened to trampoline tension after 2 hours. Finally was loose after 4. Spicy and hefty. More inward. A sophisticated mix and quite good but as with most Leoville Las Cases it needs to sit longer for the next iteration. — 9 days ago

Ironically, I just enjoyed a bottle of this in London and fully agree with your assessment. I am looking forward adding to my cellar. I have ‘82, ‘89, ‘01, ‘05, and ‘16 and it’s obvious that ‘09 needs to be in the mix. Only a couple of years for this juice to step to the next level and maybe
even before ‘05 . Nice find

Las Rocas Calatayud Garnacha 2018

Coming back to this old favorite. Now it’s at grocery outlet! Pretty label. Pretty color in the glass. Smells earthy with wet gravel meets strawberry-rhubarb pies. Flavors are nice. Floral, fruity cherry/raspberry notes. Blast of bite on the finish to keep it balanced. Fruit driven, but not fruit bombed. Juicy AF. Cleaner and less dynamic than I remember it being when I love, love, loved it. Still an amazing Spanish value wine. Elegant and very tasty. — a month ago

Fun and funky bottle, lots of yeasty baked goods on the palette for me, but easy-drinking. — 3 months ago

Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Blue and black fruits. A lot of density and terroir. This took about 5 hours decanting and in the glass to fully open up.

Excellent pairing for steak. Robust wine that turned super smooth.

Went head to head with ‘15 Caymus SS and IMO beat it out handily.

Anthem

Las Piedras Vineyard Beckstoffer Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Absolutely loved the detail on the bottle. Had this with some very fatty ribeyes and just absolutely hit it out of the park. A deep nose it almost comes off. Still hot with alcohol, but dry forest floor and rich garrique scents. Very bold and rich with ripe bursting plum, Rosemary, thyme, and butter, definitely enough structure to hold up against a good thick steak. Can’t believe this thing is 11 years old and still kicking it. — 5 months ago
