Ah, Vietti. Always good. Our dear friend Val has flown in for my wife's birthday, and we are popping a few bottles tonight. This is a very nice expression of Nebbiolo. Lively and fruity, with a touch of rose petal and a little chocolate (on the nose).

From vineyards in La Morra, Alba, Guarene and Castagnito in Langhe.
Stainless steel fermented at low temperatures and rests on fine lees through winter before bottling.
Bright straw yellow in colour.
Fragrant aromatics of dried Chamomile, Acacia flowers and almonds.
In the mouth…stone fruit, white peach, herbs and Asian pear.

2nd coravin pour of the day. I had some doubts at first as I thought I had smelled what resembled a tiny TCA taint scent. It blew off after a while. The nose is a bit muted but I can make out cherry, clay, almond, tar and a tiny gamey thing lurking in the back. The palate is showing a great acid drive, blood orange and cherry notes all along, a great tannic acid wall in the rear, as one might be expecting. The finish is long, strong, drying, showing fruits and a noble bitterness touch. Good stuff ! — 18 days ago
More than 4 years since last bottle from this case. Interesting comparison against the La Spinetta Barolo last night. The Langhe is still fruit forward, denser, thicker, deep round cherry, much more rustic, less floral, stronger tannins up in the front of the mouth. Still excellent though. — 3 days ago
Medium Ruby color with aromas of berry fruits and spicy floral notes. On the palate flavors of tart cherry, blueberry and red plum with pepper spice, burnt toast and herbs. Fine chalky tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, spice, floral and slight earthy character. Has short term aging benefit, but nice now! — 18 days ago

One of the best langhe nebbiolos I’ve had recently, especially for a relatively reasonable price on the list at Leon’s. And a great pairing with pork braciole as well. Lots of fruit, but still quite refined, with great texture and acid. Quite pretty and delicious. — 2 days ago
