It’s time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here's a great Napa Cabernet.
Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Pronounced nose of red cherries, vanilla, blueberries, light oak, dust, tobacco, light vegetables, graphites, alcohol, spices, herbs, leather, earth and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with cherries, sweet raspberries, tobacco, cloves, vanilla, wood, earth, leather, coke, tobacco leaf, bitter vegetables, herbs and black pepper.
Medium on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a very nice Cabernet based Bordeaux blend. Showing nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel. A wine that keeps changing as it opens up, which is always enjoyable.
Feels more like a new world bold Pinot Noir. Very unique.
Good by itself or with food. Still young and needs another 5 years to mature. Has good potential to be a 92+ point wine.
Needs 90 minutes to open up properly and show some tannins. After 2.5 hours, it changes again, and the new world Cabernet shows up. Definitely still young. I've had the 2013 not too long ago and loved it.
I paired it with Brie cheese and roasted almonds.
A blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon 3% Petit verdot, 3% Malbec and 1% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 26 months in French Oak barrels.
14.8% alcohol by volume.

If you are a fan of Washington wines, then this is a true staple. Bright cherry and forest floor/moss on the nose. After decanting for an hour, this wine really blossoms, wonderful fruit/tannins/oak balance. This should be good to go in about 5 years but is pleasant now with proper decanting. — 6 days ago
My second rodeo with Mr. St John, glad I am here: a deeper dive into black fruits than his Cote Du Rhône homage, & a more generous palate. Still all in balance, a restrained hand, but the terroir speaks through his hand, amen. Grenache, some Tempranillo, some Mourvedre, and some Graciano. Decanted about 1/2 hr. The red fruits shine. They are bright, fresh with nice florals. Blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, black raspberries, blueberries and poached strawberries. Dark chocolate, mocha, caramel, vanilla, clove, cinnamon, tobacco with ash, dark rich soils, berry cola, steeped fruit tea, red fruit liqueur notes with fresh & withering dark & red florals.
The body is full with powdery, dusty, meaty, tarry and sticky tannins. The fruits are ripe, delicious and easy to drink now but, will benefit from 6-8 more years in bottle. Blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, black raspberries, blueberries and poached strawberries. Dark chocolate, mocha, caramel, vanilla, clove, cinnamon, dark spice with a little heat, tobacco with ash, dark rich soils, berry cola, steeped fruit tea, red fruit liqueur notes with fresh & withering dark & red florals. The acidity is round and beautiful. The long finish is ripe, juicy, well balanced, delicious and persist nicely.

These were being run out at a bargain price in a Golding warehouse sale recently. The other bottles I opened were pretty rough and well past their prime. This one is notable because it was a very pleasant surprise: not just much more approachable than the others, but also a genuinely good pinot! It’s somewhat developed but still lively with soft, plummy fruit and whiffs of subtle, cedary oak. Thoroughly enjoyed this over three nights. — 18 days ago

This is a great QPR cab I found recently at $52. Double decanted and poured...Upfront you catch a whiff of cherry and tobacco. Taste of luscious cassis & berry followed by mellow oak. Slightly acidic & tangy. The structure is there. A unique and well made Cabernet. Great weekend or dinner find! — a month ago
Light gold in color with a green hue.
Pronounced nose of citrus, lemons, oak, vanilla, spices, grapefruits, pears and red apples.
Full bodied, buttery and smooth, with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with red apples, citrus, lemons, grapefruits, sea salt, white pepper, oak, vanilla and spices.
Medium plus on the finish with limes and almonds.
This is a very enjoyable California Chardonnay. Shows a very typical taste profile, with an above average quality and flavor.
Good by itself as a sipping wine, as it is not bitter. Nice length on the finish, which I liked.
This is a nice surprise. Enjoyable and gracious mouthfeel with nice complexity.
Better when not very cold to show the complexity.
I paired it with cheeses and nuts.
