Réserve Pfalz Trocken Pinot Noir 2017

@Delectable Wine this is the Grande Reserve, Hainfelder Letten.

Interesting PN. A suggestion of the old style of spatburgunder at first, but the oak is not overdone (drank alongside a 2019 Stodden JS for comparison). On the nose: sour cherry, sandalwood, soft coconut, more earthy notes. On the palate: lovely acidity, black cherry, slate. Perhaps a touch short, but soft, finely grained tannin on the spicy finish. I liked the JS more up front, but this is showing really well with about 8 hrs of air. Lovely now!

Pinot Noir * 2016

Light & elegant - with fresh, juicy acidity and quite surprising grip (big wood). Tart raspberries and red currants, a touch of spice. Beautifully balanced. — 8 years ago

Revolution Weinviertel Chardonnay Blend

Bright, concentrated hazy lemon yellow with flecks of marigold.

Very fragrant, with aromas of elderflower, dried apricot, unripe yellow peach, lychee, honeysuckle, red apple skin, sage, preserved lemon, candied ginger, white grapefruit, and almond skin, which carry through to the mouthwatering palate.

A complex intersection of floral, stone fruit, saline, and savory notes, this is a show-stopping wine and an incredible value at $30 retail. It’s dry and lightly tannic, with tangy acidity and a long and evolving finish.

I had this on its own and it was delightful. I’m certain it would be a fantastic pairing with a whole bunch of different dishes and cuisines, but I kind of feel like it deserves to be savored alone as the star of the show.

Reserve Pinot Noir 2014

This was good, but I had heard it was VERY good, so I think I had this hyped up in my head. Or maybe just a slightly off bottle/going through a dumb phase. Nose was pretty but seemed to be lacking depth on the palate. — 7 years ago

Deep strawberry and plum. Tasty. Balanced acidity. Minerals. Spices. Earthy. It makes me feel it is produced in a bit warm religion but in north, meaning Faltz Germany. BERNHARD KOCH HAINFELDER SPATBURGUNDER Q.B.A. TROCKEN 19 @3865, Umem, 240908-241017 — 2 years ago

Velue Cabernet Rosé 2018

A new experience all together! Beautiful dry rose that’s light on the palate yet manages to have some crunchy red berry flavors. Dry enough to not clash with our sushi bento. Paired just fine. — 5 years ago

Prellenkirchen Blaufränkisch 2016

Typical BF with fresh blueberries & herbs on moist earth. The palate shows freshness and a nice tension between the pure fruit and the juicy acidity. A good, long finish with the fresh, crunchy cherry tannins kicking in.
At 12% alc, this packs above its league and sings. A very nice wine.

Grenache Rosalie Rose 2017

Greg Ballington
9.2

@Delectable Wine this is the 2017 Verspieren-Haberer Grenache Rosé Rosalie.

Second wine for Christmas at my Uncles house in South Africa. Beautiful light salmon pink. Lots of layers on the nose with notes of watermelon, strawberries, and white flowers. High acidity (7/10) and light bodied. Zesty and crisp on the palate. Lovely roses, strawberries, melon and watermelon. Insanely long and lingering finish. Perfect for the hot summer day today, love what Thierry is doing in SA! Drink till 2021. (92+)

Love what Thierry is doing with this Rosé and with all the wines and barrels we tasted today at the Holden Manz Wine Estate with Wayne Buckley-Koch (Marketing Director) and Gerard Holden (Owner). This bottling is made up of 63% Grenache, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Syrah, 9% Cinsault and 7% Cabernet Franc. The fruit comes from various areas in the Coastal Region, like Wellington and Stellenbosch for the Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault as well as Franschhoek Valley for both Cabernets. Gently pressed as whole bunches before settling in the steel tanks for 12 hours and being removed from the lees. Very excited to try out the 2018 if we get a chance, it is supposed to be lighter and more elegant with less Cabernet.
