Unassuming. Strict, quiet, barely there aromas of gunpowder, white flowers, blanched almonds. The pale hay colors suggest this is light and easy. It’s not.

It’s 14.5% - fatty oily, type A introvert of a wine.

Slightly hot, we get yellow peach, jasmine, almond. Drink this at cellar temp and drink slow, as she charges quick. — 3 years ago

Nose is midway between extrovert and introvert. It gives up nice scents of crushed granite and warm sandstone overlaying fresh deep blackberry fruit. An iron-y note as well. Medium-bodied and very fresh, with lean, minerally, clingy flavors and nice acids. Very together. — 6 years ago

The bottle has been open in my fridge for 1 week and it’s hit a new level... exploding with lots of tropical fruits and the oak playing a buttery supporting role. Fantastic. Preview of good things to come. 9.1 —> 9.3

These are my notes from night 1:
Oak. Pineapple and some preserved lemon. Mineral, only a touch oily and subacid on the palate, though probably not by Rhone white standards. Pretty introvert. Well-measured, but the elements haven’t come together yet. No fireworks at this point in its evolution. — 4 years ago

This wine has got better and better. On the third day is drinking beautifully. Straight out of bottle, it was tannic and very much an introvert. Having been opened and decanted, however, this Syrah is in its element. Classic notes of dark cherries and dried red meats (particularly game) ooze into a savoury chocolate mid-palate. The finish graces your taste buds with an espresso martini that seems endless. For the money, this is a superb wine. Rated 92/100 by Wine Spectator in 2015. — 8 years ago
