Big deep grapey nose. Tons of granite and blackberry but also red berries as well. A very evocative and encompassing nose. Some pepper, spice and herbs as well. Complex and inviting. Palate is soft and structured with an intense pepperiness. Supple and melty with gorgeous red fruits and also blackberry. Very pure and perfectly balanced with really nice tannins. Excellent wine. — 8 months ago

Eclat de Granite Côte Roannaise Gamay 2022

Spicy and earthy nose, with some unidentifiable ripe red fruits. Very light and balanced, forward. Again, more ripe fruits but can't identify. — 2 months ago

Expression de Granite Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Melon de Bourgogne 2018

Nice minerality, subdued lemon, a hint of oyster like salinity and more body than you’d expect from a Muscadet. — 7 months ago

Dark berries and glossy, granite and spice and herbs. Lighter than normal, juicy and accessible, wide open, juicy and playful yet serious. Lighter color than normal and truly amazing for the vintage. — 9 months ago

Cuvée Le Berceau St. Joseph Syrah 2021

Lyle Fass
9.6

I adore 2021. Insane wine. Nose is feral, herbal and gamey and so expressive for a young Berceau. Red fruits galore with unreal clarity and depth. Granite aromas but expressed in a floral way as they are so expressive. Quite layered and so elite. A knockout nose and that’s just as the bottle is opened. Maybe 3-5% black fruits but barely black. Wow what a palate. Rich yet focused and with maybe 75% red and 25% black fruits but beguiling freshness and velvety, high quality tannins. Wow the nose after a fresh pour is 9.8. Palate has substantial grip, tannins and structure and is imposing but not like a warmer vintage expression of Le Berceau. It’s got velvety, molten tannins that are perfectly ripe and the fruit is mid season red berries and such incredibly realized red fruits with just insane clarity. Infused with herbs and crushed granite and the finish goes on forever. But needs air and my score will go higher.

Nose is now smokey and meaty. Wild flowers and mint. So complex and intense. Palate is so fresh and energetic with red cherry and classic flavors and loads of mineral intensity. Really elegant and stunning texture. So much energy. Wow. 9.5 to 9.6.

Vieilles Vignes de Gervans Crozes-Hermitage Syrah 2019

I definitely agree with my purveyor. See Lyle Fass’ notes.
Granite flowers and animal funk/leather on the nose. A wine you could huff all evening.
The palate rewards with opulence, but never treacly, red/black fruits, granite, gentle tugging at your cheeks. I think it’s ready to go but some yrs. wouldn’t hurt. It lingers on your lips lonnnggg.
Deliciousness, craft, terroir.
Thanks @FassSelections.
