Aroma is uncanny; a perfume of rose petals and coconut cream wafting from the glass. Totally beguiling. Vanilla and marzipan lead the way with fresh and dried red berries, red cherries, dried flowers and orange peel. So polished, but this needs more time for the oak and fruit to integrate. In 1879, 2 brothers decided to set up a wine business, C.V.N.E., Compañía Vinicola del Norte de España (Northern Spanish Wine Company) or la Cuné, as it is commonly known in Haro, created and still kept in traditional neighborhood of Haro station today. Deep Ruby with ripe berry aromas/complex spices, 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, 5% Mazuelo. Palate shows blackberry, cherry, sweet currant with herb, leather, oak & pepper spice. Shimmering ruby-red. Smoke-tinged aromas of candied cherry and blackberry, along with vanilla and espresso nuances. Juicy and energetic on the palate, offering concentrated, appealingly sweet red and blue fruit and spicecake flavors that spread out steadily with air. Wow! On the nose, dark plums and black cherries, fresh dark liquorice.
On the palate. A first phase of dark plums, black cherries and black berries. Fairly quickly the dark fruit notes are cut through with black liquorice, secondary ripple effects of vegetation and hints of fresh mint. The final third engulfs the medley of flavours laced with fine leather. Medium tannin percolates around, staying for a final bow. Decanted 1hr and 45 min. Served with filet mignon with melted blue cheese, roasted vegetable medley sprinkled with goat’ cheese (sweet potatoes, beets, carrots), asparagus and green pea basil/mint puree (all prepared at home). — 5 days ago
Excellente!! When in Mexico, must have MX wines! For those who haven’t experienced some of the MX wines, please try them. Dark red fruit with berry Intensity that brings up jam and simply juicy deliciousness to mind. Slight spice, pepper and cinnamon on the nose and a medium long finish. Deep and complex nose of sour cherry, raspberry, cedar, steeped black tea, old leather, vanilla, and forest floor. Flavor echoes the nose with hint of fig like sweetness. Vibrant palate with vivid acidity. Gripping tannins.
