Garagiste selection. $19.71. Smooth tannins. — 5 years ago
Last bottle of this incredible private label value from Garagiste. Apparently made by Icardi (see cork), this is still not quite at its apogee, but it’s getting close. Classic Barolo nose features clean gravel, ripe macerated cherries, fragrant leather, rose petal, and spice. Mouthfilling flavors of dark cherry, old barrel, and the finish goes savory/minerally as it progresses. Tannin is still abundant and a little puckery at the close, but food will tamp that down. — 5 years ago
So this is part of the garagiste mystery Rutherford. This is insanely superior to the afleet Alex. I would have pegged this as Rutherford dust, cigar box, tons of dried fruits, sweet maraschino cherries, vanilla, tar, basically classic Napa ala chimney rock or whomever in that region. Lovely as a change of pace. — 6 years ago

Garagiste selection. $13.91. Great value. Smooth tannins. — 6 years ago
This is nice. A game quality with the big dark berries, some funk, almost campfire, definite herbs. I think it fits the price. This would not be worth much more and I feel like I could find some other wines that taste like this in 11-15 dollar range. Probably from Trader Joe’s stash like this. — 6 years ago
So good. Had with bacon and tomato sandwiches. Match made in heaven. Bought from Garagiste. — 4 years ago
This Chianti Classico doesn’t say it’s from a particular commune. Just a straight Chianti Classico. The modest nose features dark cherry, warm moist gravel, savory dark minerality. A fairly low-toned palate displays some dark cherry, but it’s mostly earthy (stony gravel) and savory flavors that prevail. Vibrant acids and some youthful but soft tannin seem to indicate that this will get better in a year or two, but it’s nice with dinner, if a bit vigorous, right now. Neither the cork nor the bottle say the winery that provided the wine for this Garagiste private label, but if you look up the winery number on the back and Google it, you come up with an Italian government document that says Casa Emma (a very good estate). — 4 years ago
2013 Vintage. 12% Alcohol. Great acidity and verve. Nice citrus notes and a bit of minerality. #garagiste wine that delivers the goods. Thanks Jon. — 6 years ago
A new producer to me as in Garagiste from the Mornington Peninsula. Light to medium Ruby. Aromatic red fruits of Strawberry and Cranberry with a stalky whole bunch note. Fresh and young. Light in colour but medium intensity with medium dry tannins. Great QPR at $25 a bottle. Not for long keeping I would say. Had another one 71 weeks later on 17th November 2021 with consistent notes. Excellent value. — 6 years ago

Sometimes you take a blind chance and get rewarded.
N: Cedar, Rose, Woodsmoke(appropriately),Liquorice, tar. Chocolate.
P:Med bodied and not overly wooded(yay!) Slavonian botti for 36 mo.excellent acid tannin balance, lots of sous-bois, tomato, mint,
Chocolate. meat. As it airs, the palate is richer. Nice work here.
I looked them up and see the Riserva spends half it’s time in smaller barriques. No thank you. Without gloss, this really shines.
Deeelicious on a smoky night.
