Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2018

Lyle Fass

There has been a resurgence at this estate and this wine is why. Stunning nose of wild flowers, amazing clarity here. Superb meatiness. But also floral to the point of a kink. It’s exaggerated but you cannot resist. Superb. But under all the florals is a serious mineral/granite that is so refined and elegant. Wow, so elegant, juicy and refined but also a wild edge. Stephan vibes here. Minerals comes out as intense as florals now. This is a crazy wine. Super olive as well. Great concentration and power. Depth is great. Just awesome. A totally awesome wine. Wow. — 6 days ago

Les Bournais Montlouis-sur-Loire Chenin Blanc 2003

Intensity of dried peaches and nectarines. Has a gasoline type spectrum of aromatics. I even related it for a while to mezcal type intensity and character. Very deep and rich while brooding with mineral backbone bringing forth the fruit. Excellent — 22 days ago

Great bottle & vintage.

Terminim François et Donald

Alder Springs Vineyard Syrah 2018

This is a very tasty Syrah from Mendocino County, California.

Showing black fruits with oak, vanilla, chocolates, tobacco, spices, barnyard, earth, light vegetables and peppercorn.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Nice finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 100% Syrah is good right out of the bottle, and better after 3 hours of airtime. Tannins show up after a couple of hours.

Good by itself or with food. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats, cheeses and fresh berries.

14% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

Le Petit Chambord Vendanges Manuelles Cour-Cheverny AOC Romorantin 2007

Nose has honey, honey, honey, warmed honey, honeycomb, white flowers, waxy green pear, waxy limestone, orange blossom, candied pineapple, bruised yellow apple, over-ripe green apple with excessive tree hang, resinous oak and (light) green banana peel.

Palate has honey glazed orange peel, dried lime zest, candle wax, honey drizzle over candied pineapple, lime wedge, dry red clay, lemon poundcake and chamomile tea, but the level of acidity is amazing, like lime orchard honey! WOW! Finish runs 2m+ and lingers longer.

100% Romorantin, best bottle of this one ever! 🤯

More amazing, 3-pack buy (last bottle 😭) in Jan 2010, $17!

Can easily hold in proper storage until a 20th birthday!

@Eric Insane pickup! I'd of bought a case if I knew it was drinking like this at a youthful 14Y! So much to learn still after almost two and a half decades of wine experience.

Domaine François Raveneau

Forêt Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2011

Lemon oil and chalk. A lovely balance and presence. Drunk with oysters that bring out the soft salinity beautifully. Not flamboyant or particularly intense or long but beautifully poised. Very pretty. — 18 days ago

Monts Mains Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2005

Light straw gold, light on its feet. Fruit forward nose. Notes of apricot, white clay stone, sea breeze, tan spice, a little honey and some river stone. Rich and powerful in the mouth. The weight and impact grows with 4-5 hours of air in the decanter. Great showing. — 3 days ago

Another nice one from Chidaine. This is a pleasant and fun entry level wine from them. I’ll definitely be buying more of it! — 16 days ago

Butteaux Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2007

Drank side by side with 2008. 08 with the edge for greater intensity, depth and weight. 4 hour decant for each, and that is always key with Raveneau or you’ll never experience the true magic of Chez Raveneau. — 14 days ago
