Frühroter Veltliner

F.X. Pichler

Loibner Berg Smaragd Grüner Veltliner 2008

Indian summer in a glass. Grilled pineapple, marzipan, saffron, honeysuckle, white pepper and wet rocks. Plenty of acidity (for a GruVe), great structure and complexity and density, as well.
Terrific wine!

Leopold Grüner Veltliner

Surprisingly fruity, slightly acidic - perfect example of what this grape should be — 2 days ago

Spear Vineyards Grüner Veltliner

Made in an Austrian way with 8-10 hours of slow pressing in stainless steel that gives a texture. Medium plus to elevated acidity. Phenolic bitterness. Yellow apple, white apricot, minerality. — 13 days ago

GV with skins & malo. Not the GV you’re expecting. Raveneau ringer. Nearly confusing. — 15 days ago

Steinleithn Grüner Veltliner 2018

One of the winners of the day - robust and full strength. Herbs and honey and citrus! Lightly oily mouthfeel in balance. Fully concentrated, but not overly so. — 3 days ago

Rotes Tor Gruner Veltliner 2019

Richer #smaragd #grunerveltliner - floral and subtle grassy nose, nectarious mouth sensation, juicy acidity. Paired with a yellow squash cold soup with pickled bell peppers. — 16 days ago

Ried Klostersatz Federspiel Grüner Veltliner 2019

Just brightness in a bottle. Had at Morimoto In Vegas with a variety of foods (steak, pork belly, and yellowtail) and held it own with all. Melon and sweet lime. — a day ago

This is good stuff. Pretty much textbook Gruner. If you like your Gruner lean and tart, you’d probably like this. — 16 days ago

Weingut Herbert Zillinger

Neuland Grüner Veltliner 2020

Not your ordinary Gruner. I think it low in sulphites, unfiltered and has a rustic character. A bit oily in texture and with dominant aromas of hay, yellow stone fruits and dried herbs, you can notice some dill in it as well. For this natural style is very nice and interesting. — 15 days ago
