Bodegas San Alejandro

Las Rocas Viñas Viejas Calatayud Garnacha 2009

Dried bay leaves and cranberry, macerated strawberries. Potpuri feel. Subtle orange zest and nutmeg. Resolving tannins with an acid backbone carrying this citrus feel. Dried red berries. Has a Rioja feel, less the barrel program. Drink now. — 3 days ago

Las Perdices

Mendoza Malbec 2019

Floral. Very smooth, a little crisp, next to no acidity, pear. Perfect summer wine, easy drinking yet lasting — 18 days ago

Myriad Cellars

Las Madres Vineyard Syrah 2013

An abundance of black fruit and my ratings reflect that. However I would have scored this a bit higher if the alcohol was not so apparent and made the finish a tad disjointed. — 3 days ago

Tinto Mendoza Bonarda Blend 2017

I wish I could get this locally. Juicy and just delicious, lighter in style, great for wArmer weather. It’s Malbec, bonarda, and semillion. Yep, white semellion;; I’ve just realized I really like every bonarda I’ve had from Argentina — 16 days ago

This is by Pedro parra, the soil guy. I’ve been curious about his wines, this one sounds very cool

Bonarda is underrated from a simple pleasure and “goes well with lots of different foods” perspective.

Las Capas

Calatayud Garnacha Blend 2016

The label say 7% Macabeu. Never had that. Must be a regional one? Slightly rusty red. Pretty attractive in the glass. Smells fruity and floral. Maybe roses. Like potpourri. Or maybe it’s rosehipz. Flavors are zippy and classic Spanish. Spice. Cedar box. Berries. Red berries. More rosehipz. This is great. And a great deal. The bottle says it all, “We like power but we love beauty and this is beautiful.” Maybe it’s the Macabeu. — 5 days ago

If you have had Cava or White Rioja, you’ve had Macabeu (Viura in France). Simple profile, high acid, white wine.

Interesting. I’ve just never seen it on the label. Maybe it was added here for a bit of aroma and acidic zip.

I really like this one. Is it supposed to be served chilled? I don’t know but I’ve been drinking it at room temperature and I love it. — a day ago
