Smooth, medium-bodied Cotes du Rhone, served with trout, at Seasons 52 in Chestnut Hill, MA — a month ago
The nose on this is awesome- Like sticking your nose into a big bowl of macerated ripe and overripe cherries, freshly dried tabacco and Dr. Pepper... Beautiful deep garnet with some magenta.
Fresh, balanced sharp acid but with rounded edges, this is a wine that you can drink a bottle of by yourself.
I'm enjoying this more at room temp than on the cooled as some Beaujolais is served. — 2 months ago
Strong we’ll priced wine - drop color and legs, we’ll balanced. Subtle. — a month ago
These wines really do change vintage to vintage, but tasting this one 11 years after the vintage was a treat... On the nose, this is strawberry and rhubarb pie, but really that might be better explained as a port nose... On the palate, that stewed up red fruit really feels more integrated than when tasted young... Gone is the punch of power, but replacing it is a stewiness that feels very comforting... Canned cherries, strawberries (maybe even some green pickled ones)... Yup, the more I think about this one, the picked green strawberry note becomes more and more prominent to me... That's what I'm tasting! So good... While I think I still enjoy Gigondas a little younger and more raw, where the tannins fall here has some perfection to it... Not chewy, but satisfying... The finish here is still long, but now more strawberry than cherry when more youthful... Great! — a month ago
Repurchase and hold for 10 years. Possibly superb, otherwise just very very good and solid QPR. — 3 months ago
