Young, but accessible. Gun flint nose is instantly seductive descending like smoke onto brioche and twists of impossibly minute lemon peel, lime and tangerine piths, underripe pineapple freshness, Marcona almond, toasted sesame, chalky chunks have absorbed the smoke, and fallen citrus celebrates its rebirth. Lemon pith that oozes lemon skin oils like dewdrop diamonds. Incredible minerality that crystallizes into spines of grapefruit, dandelion, dried gooseberry, and marigold. Shiny, bright, crystal clean, and revelatory. Amazing compilation of parts that remains suspended like a chandelier in ethereal weightlessness.

This weekend will have a world Rugby theme starting with this South African red followed by wines from New Zealand and Argentina. Sadly Australia having fallen to #7 ranked in the world did not feature :( A great combination of fruit and savoury characters. A lovely fragrant plummy earthy perfume. Nice minerality with blackberry and raspberry flavours on a medium weight palate. A blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Mourvèdre. A world class Shiraz Blend not showing its 14 years and still a good cellaring future. Tasted again 23 weeks later on 23rd March 2019 with consistent notes. Tasted final bottle on 8th March 2020 with consistent notes. Better and fresher a few years ago. — 8 years ago
Spanish Sidra and French White Grenache had a funky love child! Cloudy, fermented, a bit fizzy and a lot of fun. Excellent food wine. My wife and I enjoyed this rustic beauty at the Pizzana/Truly Pizza collab in Marina del Rey. 2023 vintage. Salud! — 7 months ago
Matured taste. Still has acidity. Complexity. Fallen leaves. Jayer-Gilles Bourgogne Hauts Cotes de Nuits Pinot Noir 2010 @2564, xiaduo -, 220927-221007 — 4 years ago
Trader Joe’s sign led me right: this went great with chili! It was full and spicy but not too tannic to have with dinner. — 5 years ago
At 10.5yrs old, this private label WF cab is, well, straight forward and touch underwhelming. The fruit is clean and does trend toward WA state pedigree, but the power and tannic resolve have fallen short by the order of one magnitude. Very pleasant nevertheless…and completely fine for Tuesday burgers ;) — 5 years ago

🎅 Santa says “Two more sleeps boys & girls 😊 I hope you’ve all been good! I have so I’m going to pop these bubbles 😉”
📝 I say this has aged quick in the baby bottle and very oxidative reminiscent of a Bollinger with 10 years age - a good new find 👍

📍 R&L Legras Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut NV
🏵 91 points but would like to re-evaluate on a 75/150cl bottle vs 37.5cl
🍇 Chardonnay
🍷 Golden yellow straw
👃 Oxidative toasted brioche, smoke, fallen apples, honey & burnt citrus curd biscuit w/ a cream caramel & mineral undertone
👄 Med+ bodied rich ripe fine bubbled mousse of caramelised apple, honey, citrus biscuit, grapefruit & dry mineral
🎯 Med++ touch dry burnt caramel apple tarte tatin, citrus curd, grapefruit & mineral linger — 8 years ago
So much better than expected. The acid had fallen off a bit but the texture was reminiscent of older Sancerre and overall quite pleasant. Drinking the cellar dry so we had to try it! — 8 years ago
Whoa, a bargain baby. Although it shows some edges, time will tell how they resolve. A touch of VA on the nose took a sec to blow off, then it screamed of red fruit and smoldering tar. The tar thankfully went from smoldering to sparking off here and there, but then the earth, wow, this is earthy, but still, the fruit dominates. The palate nails the Nebbiolo high amounts of everything (acid, alcohol, tannins structure). But the tannins play fairly, a highlight accessory, not a scene stealer. The tannic grip hangs on but in tandem with fruit and soil into which rose petals may have fallen last spring. I can’t believe the price on this bebe. — a year ago
Woke up after one hour. Powerful aroma with oak, black currant and other fruits. Earthy, fallen leaves flavor which were initially found was surpassed by vanilla and concentration. Spicy and dry. Traditional. Château Grand Ormeau Lalande de Pmerol Cabernet Sauvignon Blend Cuvée Madeleine 2001 @1280, domaine XH, 210821 — 5 years ago

Smell is boysenberry, old leather, freshly fallen maple leaves, lavender, hibiscus, chalky, wet, boysenberry, grippy, dry, finishing blackberry taste, color is a dark ruby with some magenta — 7 years ago
Raw leather, plum, blackberry, prune, anise, dried strawberry, cedar, campfire smoke, black peppercorn. Acid is still moderately present. Tannins have fallen off considerably.
Leakage from the cork. Wine about a quarter inch below taper of neck. Cork had no hope without a Durand. With ah-so it still went straight in-- better than falling apart though. Honestly, I thought this was a bad gamble but wine came out better than I expected. Not prime but still good. 91 — 8 years ago
Lemon in colour. Notes of Orange peel and Quince on nose and palate. Medium to full bodied. Refreshing uncomplicated drinking. The base wine, Grillo, used in Sicily for the fortified Marsala - a style that has fallen out of favour in recent times. Tasted again 30 weeks later on 10th May 2019 with consistent notes as above. Tasted again on 9th October 2019 with consistent notes. Also notes of old apples and quince as previous. A delicious Mediterranean white and excellent QPR. — 8 years ago
