Château Margaux

Premier Grand Cru Classé Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

Tried 3 years ago, and it was a tannic bottle of disappointment, it's changed for the better.

2 hour decant(some chunky/fine sediment). A splendid dark purplish magenta color. On the nose: dark fruit, cocoa, pencil shavings, floral, cigar box, menthol. Taste: soft, elegant wine with some black/red fruit, currants, crushed stone, and an earthy black tea lean medium finish. Not the depth and power of a great year, drinks well now...not sure how much more this will improve.

Philipponnat

Clos des Goisses Champagne Blend 2002

A powerful and decadent Clos Des Goisses drinks more like a still wine and it really stains the pallet . Serious juice ! — 5 years ago

Bonny Doon Vineyard

Le Cigare Volant Red Rhone Blend

65/18/15/2 blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsaut and Petit Sirah. Moderate to high pigment extraction, purple red. Aromas and flavors of black pepper and raspberry. Ever so slightly tart, moderate skin astringency on finish with spearmint and alcohol-forward bitterness. Will mellow with decanting. Good value with a screw cap thrown in, yes! Drinks better than the last vintage I had of this. — 6 months ago

Diamond Creek Vineyards

Volcanic Hill Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1983

Pristine bottle so much power and life left and still fruit definition. Drinks like first growth Pauillac. What a special era for Napa wine. — 9 months ago

Had an ‘83 Forman a few days ago that showed beautifully. Those OG producers from the late ‘70s and ‘80s made some special, and nearly immortal, wines.

Marchesi Antinori

Corison Winery

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1997

Double decant and pour(lots of sediment). A splendid medium ruby red color. On the nose: a little stewed red fruit, herbaceous, worn leather, mint, sweet smokey oak, loamy soil. Taste: smooth, elegant, savory wine with a touch of dried red fruit, dried herbs, cocoa, damp earth, minerals, and a spiced iron/meaty medium finish. YUM! Mature and on the long downside, but still drinks nicely at 28 years. — 8 months ago

Silver Oak

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Blend of 79% Cab Sauv, 15% Merlot, 3% Cab Franc, 3% Petit Verdot, deep Ruby, concentrated aromas, ripe black fruit, cedar, subtle nutty spice & creamy chocolate. On the palate flavors of plum, blackcherry & dried blackberry, with oak, cacao and herb vanilla. Tannins are firm and persistent on a long elegant finish ending with fruit, cacao, vanilla & mineral tang. Drinks well now, a powerhouse, & will continue to develop over the next 15-20 years! Outstanding! Tasting Sample! — 4 years ago
