Estate Crush

Joseph Phelps Vineyards

Insignia Estate Grown Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1999

1999 vintage. Decanted and tasted after four hours. Medium/heavy body. Intense, dark color. Earthy, tannic nose. Plenty of grip and fruit and showing beautiful balance now. Not an Insignia fan but this was excellent and has plenty of quality time left. No rush to crush. 71% Cab, 21% Merlot, 6% PV, 1% Cab Franc, 1% Malbec. 3.5.24. — a month ago

Still a nice bottle, sour crush although a bit light the palette. Expecting a bit more. — 3 years ago

Walla Walla Valley Syrah Cabernet Sauvignon

Fun bottle on the nose and palette at a great price. Notes of minerals, gravel and spring water keep things interesting. — 2 months ago

The Dreaming Tree

Crush California Red Blend 2020

I’m obsessed! It’s so smooth with nice notes of ripe fruit! I feel like I read reviews that said it was a harsh finish but I feel that it finishes nicely. I would absolutely recommend giving it a try! — 6 months ago

Château Montrose

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1966

1966 vintage. Last tasted 9.20.23. That bottle was a little "chunkier." This one was more refined. Decanted and tasted nearly immediately and throughout a 2 hour window. Throwing the expected kitchen sink's worth of sed. Color initially seemed lighter, like 30+ year old red Burg but ended up being a tad darker than that. Light-medium body. Earth, summer dirt and Valrhona chocolate in the nose. All this plus dried cherries in the frontal palate finish. Not much to speak of on the back end. Rated that 9.20.23 bottle an 8.8 and this is slightly better. Still...a definite rush to crush this. 11.11.23. — 5 months ago

Okanagan Crush Pad

Owen Cerqueira Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2011

2011 vintage and 100 % Okanagan Cabernet Franc.
Deep ruby red; impressive colour after 12 years.
Dried sweet raspberries, tobacco, sage .
and celery root on the nose.
Older dark fruit, tea, leather and garrigue. Tannins are smooth and acidity is still present and working well.
Owen Knowlton won Sommelier of the year in 2011 in British Columbia and was awarded the opportunity to make a wine with Okanagan Crush Pad…his choosing. 3 barrels…or 75 cases were made. Owen is a good friend and gifted me one of his last remaining bottles.
