Still a nice bottle, sour crush although a bit light the palette. Expecting a bit more. — 4 years ago

Château Pichon-Longueville Baron

Baron de Pichon-Longueville Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

2000 vintage. Last tasted 9.25.23 (9.2) after 1.5 hours decanted. Popped and decanted this for lunch. Great fill and solid cork. Throwing a bit of sed but less than anticipated. Meh nose. Medium body initially. Started off on the rich side of the ledger but not plush. Had some smoothness afoot. Tasted after 45 mins open, 1.75 hours open and 8 hours open. First two were unspectacular. After lounging in the decanter 8 hours, wine had firmed up, thinned out, picked up plenty of secondary flavors and had that previously missing grip. If you're gonna open this during the holidays or anytime soon, do it very very early...otherwise, it'll be a total waste. Wine has miles to go. No rush to crush but just air it out in advance properly. 10.16.24. — a month ago

Walla Walla Valley Syrah Cabernet Sauvignon

Fun bottle on the nose and palette at a great price. Notes of minerals, gravel and spring water keep things interesting. — 9 months ago

Apothic

Apothic Crush Smooth California Red Blend 2021

Headline: “Yep that’s wine.”

A little more ‘watery’ and ‘grap-y’ than I think most would prefer, but very drinkable.

Joseph Phelps Vineyards

Insignia Estate Grown Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1999

1999 vintage. Decanted and tasted after four hours. Medium/heavy body. Intense, dark color. Earthy, tannic nose. Plenty of grip and fruit and showing beautiful balance now. Not an Insignia fan but this was excellent and has plenty of quality time left. No rush to crush. 71% Cab, 21% Merlot, 6% PV, 1% Cab Franc, 1% Malbec. 3.5.24. — 9 months ago

Okanagan Crush Pad

Owen Cerqueira Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2011

2011 vintage and 100 % Okanagan Cabernet Franc.
Deep ruby red; impressive colour after 12 years.
Dried sweet raspberries, tobacco, sage .
and celery root on the nose.
Older dark fruit, tea, leather and garrigue. Tannins are smooth and acidity is still present and working well.
Owen Knowlton won Sommelier of the year in 2011 in British Columbia and was awarded the opportunity to make a wine with Okanagan Crush Pad…his choosing. 3 barrels…or 75 cases were made. Owen is a good friend and gifted me one of his last remaining bottles.
