Geoffroy is a récoltant-manipulant that has been keeping it real in Cumières (Vallée de la Marne) since the 1950’s when they started to bottle their own champagne. “Empriente” is a Blanc de Noirs of 100% Pinot Noir. Popped and poured, the 2015 pours a brilliant golden color with persistent mousse. On the nose, gorgeous raspberries, lemons, brioche, and chalky minerals. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with great acidity despite the warmth of the 2015 vintage. The notes from the nose are confirmed and the finish has lovely chalky minerals. There is a richness to the texture that is palpable. A very delicious champagne indeed! Disgorged December 2021. — 2 years ago
2022 vintage. Olivier Decelle also owns Mas Amiel ( Maury), Jean-Faure ( Saint-Emilion), as well as estates in Burgundy and the Rhône Valley under his name. This Saint-Joseph "Empreinte"is a delicious, uncomplicated juicy Syrah with bright fruit, spices, and a gentle tannic bite. Very good value. Abv. 13,5 %. — 8 months ago

Very old vine Grenache Blanc that’s purposefully oxidised (barrels sent topped up, not sure if there’s any flor). This is one for lovers of Vin Jaune but at a fraction of the price. Orange zest, marmalade, lots of dried stone fruit with a lovely saline, umami thing going on. Burnt butter, toasted nuts, this has many layers.
Palate is mouth filling and rich without being ott. In no way fresh, but that ain’t the game here. All those, nutty, dried fruits come through, has this really lovely tiramisu thing going on in the mid palate and finish (which is long). If you like this style, this is bonkers good value! Best with punchy cuisine such as smoked anchovies and southern french fair. — 4 years ago
