Quite dense crimson in colour with a tawny rim. Balsamic notes with cherry and a leathery note. Unusual production technique for Barolo using French Barriques for oak maturation. An excellent red but not particularly Barolo, although the oak has largely integrated after 15 years. One of the 1001 Wines. Garnet to pink rim, clear and bright. Soft fragrant rose petals, baked cherry vanilla biscuit, closing out with a hint of licorice. Some nuttiness on the palate, with persistent alcohol-warmed cherries midway. Tart and grippy tannic finish. More bottle life awaits. Very very enjoyable, bringing back memories of La Morra last summer. Looking forward to our return to Piedmont!
