Very good, bold but dark cherry notes — 15 days ago
Dark ruby/purple color. Aromas of blueberries, chocolate and coffee. Blueberry fruit flavors are complimented by hints of Asian spices, dark chocolate, figs, plums and black cherries. Slight note of blood/iodine on the long lasting finish. Medium bodied, solid balance and silky tannins. Thanks for sharing, Matt A. — a month ago
In 1877, Illario and Leopoldo Ruffino laid the foundations of their dream to make Italian wines from the heart of Tuscany. Medium Ruby red color with aromas of dark berry fruit and earthy spice, blend of 80% Sangiovese with rest Merlot and Cab Sauv. On the palate flavors of black cherry and plum with tobacco, pepper and earthy cedar notes. Full-bodied, well balanced soft drying tannins on a smooth medium+ finish. Grab some Italian food and enjoy the great value wine. Consistent quality, a Fav!! — 9 days ago
2012 drinking in 2025. Still has a few years in it. Superbly reliable vineyard, with a great history of great wines. Cherries, blackberry, earthy notes and some light oak. Similar in the mouth though a bit thinner than I would have imagined. Really superb classic rioja bought in 2019 at a great price in the UK — 4 days ago

Medium garnet with a medium terracotta rim . Herbal and dried flowers at first with some iodine , dried mushroom , sous bois . On the palate this is more elegant and evolved with light strawberry , raspberry , spiced cherry , herbal hints , old wood , black tea . Great balanced acidity and fine but present tannins . Long finish , with strawberry conserve , mineral hints . This is in it drinking window but will probably give a further 10 or so years of prime drinking . Slightly finer and small boned than the 2001, but lacks nothing in complexity — 4 hours ago
