Eisele Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2016

July 4th Friday was a total blowout! Killer bottles one after another. Here are just a few of the bottles we all enjoyed!

Beautiful SauvBlanc made in the “super SauvBlanc” style. Bordeaux Blanc like aromatics of crushed limestone, slate, and rounded stone fruits. Quite soft on the palate with guava and lemon-lime lychee. High acidity at the moment.

Focused but would be great to see this evolve with age. Loaded with black currants, pencil lead/graphite and violets. Reminds me of a baby Latour ... wonder why — 4 months ago

No, lunch can’t get better. I had a 2015 about a year ago, thought it was some of the best domestic Cabernet I’ve ever had

Terzetto Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2007

Today is #cabernetday so I'll have to wait with my #MerlotThursday. A nice Napa Merlot /Cabernet blend will fit in with the celebration.

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim. Not showing much age.

Nice nose of black currants, blackberries, wood, vanilla, chocolates, vinaigrette, graphite, leather, earth, wet leaves, vegetables, dark coffee, herbs, tobacco leaf and black pepper.

Full bodied and bold with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with cherries, sweet raspberries, currants, cedar, earth, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, vegetables, vinaigrette, bitter herbs and peppercorn.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cranberries.

This Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley is interesting and tasty. Showing great complexity and mouthfeel.

This 12 year old is good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up and shows some tannins (90 minutes).

Reminds me of a 20 year old Right Bank Bordeaux.

Wine Enthusiasts 90 points.

The high alcohol is very nicely integrated by now, so watch out.

Thank you Wendy for sharing this with me.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Organic.

14.7% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$75 (current vintage).

Very nice to hear. This was the last Eisele vintage for JPV; and IMO one of the best but overshadowed by the understandable excitement over the Araujo that hit the market for the first time. ‘91 was a terrific vintage with excellent acid balance for Bordeaux varieties.
