An excellent aged Cabernet to go with a Scotch Fillet at the local pub in Sorrento on Boxing Day night. Domaine A is living proof that Tasmania does get enough sunshine to ripen Cabernet Sauvignon. My last bottle unfortunately. See previous notes from 74 weeks ago and 130 weeks ago. Mid yellow in colour. Obvious parrafin/kerosene on the nose. On the palate ripe grapefruit, nectarine and a little chalkiness. Only 10.2%ABV but not overly sweet. Low acid. Drinking at its peak. Riesling in Tasmania is excellent and flies under the radar to an extent. — 5 years ago

No wonder it’s voted the top Chardonnay. 2024 was still young but a beautiful warm buttery citrus Chardonnay. Lemons and grapefruits came through. Lovely deep red to purple color. Smells like musk, woods, campfire on your clothes. Maybe a cranberry or elderberry tone under it all. Interesting smell to it for sure. Flavors are also interesting. Old time tonics and herbal extractions. More elderberry stuff. Absinthe. Or is that Jegermister? The fruit is there too, but it’s under the savory and strange stuff. This is a wine to age. But it’s good now too if you are into the strange and earthy side of Syrah. A true terroir driven drinking experience. I can see the coast valleys of Mendo in the flavors. — 4 years ago

Tuesday the 26th of January was Australia Day and a public holiday. What better way to celebrate than Australia’s best fizz Arras Grand Vintage from Tasmania. Quite light lemon in colour. Very citrussy and mineral on the nose. 7 years on Lees showing in the complexity of the palate which still shows tension and refreshment.
