Double-decanted prior to service. The 1988 pours a garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some fine sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with beautiful notes of cassis, brambles, tobacco, capsicum, leather, inorganic earth and a mix of herbs and fine spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin (integrated) and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, the finish is medium+. The label is beat to hell but the condition of the wine inside the bottle was perfect. Classic, old school Bordeaux from a classified growth. Drink now through 2043. — 8 days ago

2019 vintage. A blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 7% Petit Verdot. First year of conversion to organic viticulture. The second wines of the big boys have never been better, and this is another good example. Raspberry, cassis, a hint of pencil shavings, and a little smokiness. Good concentration, charm, complexity and length. Good value for an appellation where you don't go shopping with 10 euro, but that rarely disappoints. Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.

Fruity nose of black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, licorice, eucalyptus, chocolates, spices, vegetables, coffee, herbs and black pepper.

Full bodied and rich with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, spices, toast, coffee, light vanilla, dark chocolates, peppercorn, earth and black tea.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This gorgeous 21 year old red blend from Saint Julien is drinking beautifully now. Powerful and fruit forward. Nicely balanced and elegant.

Peaking now, and still feels very fresh, with a lot of power to take it even longer. Will continue to drink nicely in the next 10 years.

This Third Growth Bordeaux is showing great complexity with a great mouthfeel. Spicy and entertaining. A great vintage in Bordeaux, and it is definitely showing.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food like a big piece of steak.

A blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 9% Petit Verdot. Aged in (60% new) French Oak barrels for 21 months.

Again quite deep ruby , with a wider garnet rim , slightly cloudy appearance. This is a little more smudged on the nose with , earthy , slightly swimming pool note , tobacco and some dried flowers . However with time this starts to gain stature and complexity with cigar box , cedar and grafite notes . On the palate this is a little rounder and deeper in style , a bit more generous . More cassis and blackberry , along with some cherry . Herbal tobacco notes , fresh acidity and more rounded tannins , perhaps better length that the Ducru too. This also is showing well , if not as young as the Ducru , from now and over the next 10 years in this format. — 24 days ago

2000 vintage. This is one of the better BDX 2000's I've had in the last decade. Opened not decanted. Tasted 1 hour and 4 hours after opening. Feminine body, masculine flavors. The utterly delicious 2018 Chateau Gloria is medium>full, with an abundance of black fruit aromatics and flavors, a good structure, and a well balanced fruity core with juicy acidity and powdery tannins at the smoothly textured, long mouth coating finish.
