2019 vintage. Previously enjoyed less than 2 weeks ago (9.2 rating on 8.19.23). Big, heavy white that got a decant before tasting. Enjoyed over the course of an hour. Medium/medium-heavy body. All the smoky, toasty, vanilla, mineral qualities in the nose bridged the strait and made it into the flavors with the mineral component ultimately ruling the roost...er...glass. Long-lived producer so it was much too early to crack this particular egg. Give it a half-decade-at least. 8.31.23. — 3 years ago
Slightly darker in color than its peers, the 2017 Chablis Les Vaudésir Grand Cru has an expressive bouquet with a fair smack of oak that partly clouds the terroir and renders this a little generic. Returning after 10 minutes, there are some sulfur issues here. The palate is well-balanced, however, with enticing nectarine and clementine notes, good depth and a supple, almost caressing finish. Very tempting, but it needs to grow into something more interesting, more Grand Cru-ish. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. (Neal Martin, Vinous, August 2021)

17.5. Classic Chablis nose with a bit of oak. But that goes with exposure. Elegant and balanced, v good fruit, M+ length. — 5 years ago
WS: 90. This smoky version features a core of black cherry, blackberry, violet and stony mineral flavors. Nicely balanced, with vibrant structure for support, keeping this focused and long. Best from 2025 through 2032. 5,740 cases made, 1,130 cases imported.

I have been a long time fan of Les Malconsorts as it is a neighbour of La Tache at a fraction of the price. We chose not to decant with the advice of the Somm but after 40 minutes and vigorous swirling maybe we should have. Initially closed but then developed a savoury red fruited nose. Extended through to the mid weight palate and developing with aeration but with no great complexity. After an hour more aromatics and more alluring - a red fruited, red floral, verging on meaty perfume. A recent Malconsorts I had from Sylvain Caithard exceeded this one. A very good but not a “wow” wine. One of those Burgundies which do not live up to expectations nor the price paid. — 3 years ago

Well isn’t this just a delight. A rather attractive, almost ruddy color. Translucent edges and long legs. The bouquet is so nice. More savory than fruity to be sure. Plenty of licorice and wet moss. Leather and lace, with a touch of violet. Those earthy aromas never fade, with fresh cut grass and idyllic spring meadows just for good measure. Dried cherries begin to take over after a bit of time. Still so fresh and alive smelling. A little blueberry compote and faded strawberries.
This is such a well balanced Burgundy at this point. Drinking very, very well at this age with plenty of life left in it. Medium bodied and smooth as all get out. The fruit is rambunctious and still youthful. I doubt this has even hit its prime yet. More delicious red cherries and blue fruits shine in the mouth. There’s an appropriate bit of oak, not too much, and restrained barnyard. I would have liked to see the funk set free but this is a wine that chooses not to dive headlong into that arena. Still, a seriously lovely pour. — 4 years ago

Flint, gunpowder, lemon zest — 2 years ago
Quite deep ruby, bright pink rim. Pretty oaky at the beginning , then ripe cherry , red plum and some spice . On the palate quite astringent acidity and tannin , with similar fruits profile on the nose , ripe deeper fruits , cherry and plum . With time there is better integration , and a slight mineral , chalky , spiced tinged finish . It is not all that long and slightly warm . This is difficult to read at the moment , oak is quite prominent and the palate disjointed . Needs time obviously so come back in 5-10 years, though don’t hold your breath for a superior wine. — 2 years ago

Pale lemon/gold color with aromas of citrus, stone fruits and floral notes. On the palate flavors of ripe apple, pear and lemon citrus with notes of white flowers and spice. Medium+ finish, vivid acidity ending with citrus and mineral character. — 3 months ago
