I have been a long time fan of Les Malconsorts as it is a neighbour of La Tache at a fraction of the price. We chose not to decant with the advice of the Somm but after 40 minutes and vigorous swirling maybe we should have. Initially closed but then developed a savoury red fruited nose. Extended through to the mid weight palate and developing with aeration but with no great complexity. After an hour more aromatics and more alluring - a red fruited, red floral, verging on meaty perfume. A recent Malconsorts I had from Sylvain Caithard exceeded this one. A very good but not a “wow” wine. One of those Burgundies which do not live up to expectations nor the price paid.
