Deep Ruby with aromas of black fruits, complex spice and notes of herbs and forest floor. On the palate subtle flavors cherry and red plum with notes of cacao, espresso and licorice. Fine tannins, adding to great mouthfeel, long finish ending with toasty cedar notes and earthy herb mineral. Good now as fruit starting to fade a bit, but still showing beauty and grace. From Chambers 2017 on 9/25/20. Decanted at 55’ but needs to be cooler. Cedar and alcohol even in a real, open Bordeaux style glass. Opens fast and softens. Chocolate for sure. Blackberry. Not usually a fan of pure cab franc, but this unfolds beautifully. Keep moving the rating up, every five minutes. — 4 months ago

Well aged and classic BDX. On the nose, rose hips, dusty red fruit and forest. In the mouth, red fruit, dried flowers and noticeable secondary flavor characteristics. Still some tannin left, even after 2 hours in a decanter. Medium-long finish. I don’t think you need (or should) wait much longer for this one. — 8 months ago

Tried 3rd time, 1st bottle a dud, 2nd great. Made by Michele d'Aprix, American woman who studied organic chemistry in college, ended up in Bordeaux. Label Chemical equation for calcareous clay soil in right bank of Bordeaux giving a unique character. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits and notes of cedar and spice. Palate shows flavors of blackberry & cherry with tobacco & pepper spice. Drying tannins, medium+ finish, nice balance ending with earthy herbs & black pepper notes. 2016 vintage. Nicolas Thienpont is a great winemaker at 3 Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classés Beauséjour HDL, Pavie Macquin and Larcis Ducasse +Grand Cru Classé Berliquet + a few estates in the Côtes de Bordeaux). This Côtes de Francs is probably the most humble in his stable, but it's a very serious wine. A blend of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc, it features a dark red colour colour with a purplish rim, a complex nose with blueberry and strawberry fruit, flowers and cocoa powder. The fruit is packed in a tight ripe tannic structure, with balancing acidity and serious length. I would recommend to give this overachiever a few years of bottle age. Abv. 14,5%. Great value at 12,90 euro. — 4 months ago

Very dark garnet, nose of wet earth with very dark fruit. Dry, good tannins, some earth, black plum, black cherry & blackberry too. Balanced acidity- best wine I’ve had at Maison Pickle- was really great with their short ribs in a bourguignon sauce! — 2 months ago
