Interesting how it comes across as a more serious wine then you get from the region, but then you taste the floral and the lightness, but it’s interesting that the lightness of the wine hides behind the heavy side. My bottle has been open for a bit. I can tell it definitely has that chewy almost ripe fruit, sort of Christmas spices thing going on, very delicious and pairs very well with my meal, but just a different kind of wine you get from the region. Usually, you get the floral and delicate flavors first but not this one. Very interesting and very delicious. — 3 months ago
Nose: very fruited.
Palate: fruit. Delicious. Not super mineral. Just a bit. Dense.

The aromas are tropical lemon blossoms and being on a pebble beach. Lemon custard and the hint of pineapple (including that feeling on your tongue that pineapple gives you - in a very light good way) round finish. Vintages 2014/2015. Disgorged 1/6/2018. TBL — 5 years ago
Deep ruby red with violet. Non filtered. Raspberry strawberry herbal red flower meat.

Established in the village of Marsannay in the 1960's by Bernard Coillot, father of owner Christophe Coillot. Deep Ruby red color with aromas of berry fruit and spice. On the palate flavors of cherry and blackberry with notes of fig, mushroom and spice. Fine soft tannins, long finish ending with fruit, spice and earthy mineral character. Very Nice! — 3 months ago

The nose opens with waves of ripe black cherry, cassis, plum liqueur, and dark chocolate Beneath the opulence lies impressive complexity with hints of espresso, violets, and peppery spice emerge gradually with air. The palate is dense and supple, showing warmth and generosity. Plenty of nuance beneath the lavish fruit.
Possibly the best value for a St-Emilion GCC. Will need to seek out more. — 2 months ago

Basically 97% of a Côte Rotie at 1/4 the price. Just a lovely piece of work. All that time in the bottle didn’t hurt — 4 months ago
Very surprised by this Riesling. Apricot stone fruit without being in-your-face sweet. Has some nice minerality and a super pleasant long-winding finish. — 2 years ago
Again, these are love it or hate it style wines, and I fall on the “love it” side every single time. This was part of a blind lineup for “Rhône style wines”. These wines are a bit difficult not to identify in a blind lineup due to their distinctive aromatics.
My note here is pretty similar to the 2011 I opened a year and a half ago. In true to Christophe Baron style, this is a savory packed punch wrapped in elegance. Aromatically, it’s a heady display of soy, teriyaki, green olive, peppercorn crusted smoked meats, currant and spicy rhubarb. At 10yrs, the palate is almost a dead ringer for high end northern Rhône Syrah. The savory/iron driven components from the nose continue but there is great acid followed by stems, herbs de Provence and lots of wildflowers/potpourri for a floral finish. I found the 2011 to have a lighter/more floral profile, but this one certainly has more stuffing and aging potential. This seems to just now be entering a peak drinking window.
Also in the lineup was a 2014 Hors Categorie (also from Christophe Baron), and I found the 2012 HP to taste younger, while the 2014 HC had a bit more heft in the mid-palate. Love both. — 4 years ago
A stunning rosé champagne. First off, there’s that amazing salmon color. Not a ton of bubbles but those that are there are tiny. Ridiculously deep nose featuring plums, dried cherries, and ripe strawberry. Fresh herbs, oolong tea, and rose petals compliment. It really is such a pretty and graceful bouquet.
100% Pinot Meunier, this is rich and delectable throughout. Creamy and sensual in the mouth, this is silky smooth. Zero dosage and quite fruity, the two Pinots really work their magic here. It’s very vibrant and generous.
Intense raspberries attack the palate, along with cherries. Traces of mild oak, freshly baked bread, and mint. Sassafras, creamy vanilla, crushed petals, and nuts. A really unique and delicious Grower champagne. Outstanding on every level. — 6 years ago
