I have always appreciated the style of Olivier Leflaive. As well, Chassagne-Montrachet as a whole. Always, brings me back to our lunch on the patio of Hotel Montrachet during our first trip to Burgundy and our next trip having lunch at the property with Olivier.

The 22 is drinking nicely…a bit more refined than my first bottle. Some waxiness and nice viscosity. Bright lemon w/ a note of sour, green apple-the first bite with skin, pineapple, white stone fruits, kiwi, tropical melons, notes of honey, good presence of saline, sea fossils, vanillin & caramel hues, a bit of dry herbs, dry volcanic minerals, wet river stone, fruit blossoms, yellow lilies and jasmine, spring rainfall acidy with a rich, elegant, well balanced finish that longs sets on just a touch of white spice w/ gentle heat.

Medium deep lemon yellow , showing a bit of age but not unduly so . On the nose this is quite rich and ripe , some apricot , lemon peel , melted butter , sea breeze and toasted hazelnuts . On the palate this also shows that richness , with ripe yellow fruits , peach , citrus peel and toasty hazelnut . This has just enough acidity along with balanced alcohol , though quite weighty and rich in style it is also balanced by its sheer extract and intensity . Good length with toasty , yellow fruit tinged finish . Quite a rich , generous Batard , though it is overall well balanced and starting to show very well , no rush here but it’s probably in its prime drinking window . From now and over the next 5 -8 years perhaps . — 3 months ago

2022 vintage. Last tasted 3.9.26 (9.4). Big ginger mixed with lanolin, pear, acacia and citrus fruit. Still slightly "sharp" acidity. Suggestively spicy on the back end. This is excellent and should continue as such for the next 3-4 years before recalibrating/softening. Generally speaking, love love the Marc Morey 2022 Chassagne efforts as a whole as the varied premmie cru plots all deliver-big time-and carry a bit of restraint. 8.28.26. — 24 days ago
