Decoy Merlot

Duckhorn Vineyards

Napa Valley Merlot 2022

Blend of 85% Merlot, 13% Cab Sauv and 2% Cab Franc, deep Ruby with aromas of rich berry fruit and earthy spice tones. On the palate flavors of rich blackberry and black cherry with sweet spice, licorice and cedar notes. Fine tannins, long finish ending with oak, fruit and mineral character. Good to drink now, will age some. — 7 hours ago

Napa Valley Merlot

Exceptional Merlot! Very rich, full bodied and balanced. Definitely a roasted red meat, steak wine. Beautiful finish and lingers long after your last sip. And great with food or just to sip and enjoy. — 25 days ago

Apothic

Winemaker's Blend California Zinfandel Blend 2013

I asked for a jammy red and that’s what this is !! Not super into these “commercialized” wines, but it does the job for easy drinking. Yum — 13 days ago

Château Chasse-Spleen

Moulis en Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

Dar rubi robe, nose of blackcurrant, anise and limestone. Very cabernet in the mouth with the peppery register, rounded up by the ripe Merlot. Great acidity and balance, an excellent bottle just lacking a bit of complexity which is typical of the 2000 bordeaux. — 24 days ago

Masseto

Toscana Merlot 2008

+1 hour decant(lots of sediment). A gorgeous dark purplish magenta color. On the nose: very aeromatic nose of dark cherry, black olives, tobacco, toasty oak, eucalyptus, roasted meat, milk chocolate. Taste: deep, rich, silky, creamy wine with dark plum, bitter coffee grounds, earth, licorice, new leather, graphite, dried herbs, pepper, and a medium plus finish. YUM! — 25 days ago

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2009

An exceptional wine that shows its age ability to endure and improve over time. The 2009 vintage has 76% Cab Sauv, 18% Merlot, 4% Cab Fran and 2% Petit Verdot and was aged for 15 months in French Oak barrels. Extremely opulent and luscious, though tannins were already falling, but its elegance and finesse was compelling. All ripe red fruits with a persistent perfumed aromas. Elongated finish with some fig notes as a bit of baked raisins. It can continue aging for another 15 years without compromising its elegance and complexity. This is a show stopper!! — 4 days ago

Colgin Cellars

IX Estate Napa Valley Red Blend 2011

2011 vintage. Opened but not decanted. Tasted 2.5 hours and 3.5 hours after opening. Medium-heavy body. Some powerful chunkiness afoot but wouldn't categorize the wine as rustic. Balanced mix of fruit, earth and mineral. No rush to crush. 02.22.25. — 17 days ago

Château Lascombes

Margaux Merlot Blend 1996

1996 vintage. Really nice specimen. Opened (not decanted) and tasted after two hours. Unified earthy, funky, lived in BDX nose paired with medium body. Surprisingly, still a splash of baby fat evident on the cheeks along with a blue fruit accent. Ripe plum, cassis and leather followed. Drinking great currently with extensive follow-through on the finish and should hold as such till 2030. 02.28.25. — 11 days ago

Château Duhart Milon

Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot Blend 1982

Flight 2 , wine 2 . This was again quite deep with a slightly marked terracotta rim . Quite closed and difficult to read at first , touch of coffee and herbal hints , some sous bois . This needed time to unfurl a bit and showed well over all . On the palate this had dark fruits and a mineral , grafite , tobacco edge , quite elegant and still showing well . Slightly dry compact tannins , but good balance and length . I had this down as the Talbot 82 … but alas I was wrong again .. at least got the vintage . — 19 days ago
