Alexander Valley Vineyards is owned and operated by the Harry Wetzel family. Founded in 1975, it is located on Cyrus Alexander's old homestead. Deep Ruby, 13% Merlot added for body, aromas of dark berry fruits with sweet baking spice. On the palate black cherry and ripe blackberry flavors with cacao, oak and pepper spice. Fine chewy tannins good drinking now, medium+ finish, ok balance with soft . Tasting Sample. Nice value! — 3 years ago
Wine club release from York Creek. Less brawny than Barnett’s main releases (Cyrus Ryan and Rattlesnake). Mountain fruit (albeit a little less fruit forward) with some nice spice notes and good structure — 3 years ago
Absolutely delicious nose,
Ripe yet unsweet blackberry and Eucalyptus -
This carries on through the big bodied wine, focused laser like beginning to end red cab fruits, that mint wood finish and long lingering acidity.
I haven’t had this since I was at the winery in 2015. So good! — a year ago
