Tropical fruits, mango rind, melon, papaya.

Really nice. Going to Amalfi in a few weeks. Thought it’d be nice to pre game some of the wine!

Costa del Vento Derthona Colli Tortonesi Timorasso 2022

2022. Worked with the sommelier to find a wine to pair with grilled octopus with harissa and walnut sauce, and grilled chicken, chanterelles, and Carolina Gold rice. This creamy bodied, nutty, stone fruit flavored delicious wine was perfect. — a month ago

Costa Russi Langhe Nebbiolo 1997

Patience. I need more patience. Opened and knew I should wait but one little sip here another there. And half the bottle was gone too early. Needed 3.5+ hours to open. Mature cherry mixed with tea leaves and dark fruit. Color was still dark red. Aromatic and musclebound. — 2 months ago

Sandlands

Contra Costa County Mataro 2022

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2022 Contra Costa County pours, a deep ruby color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with bright notes of fresh and tart, brambles and plums with licorice, flowers, and hot tarmac. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, enhanced with a touch of black pepper. The finish is medium+; grippy and zippy. Yet another very lovely Mataro from Sandlands. Drink now to enjoy the freshness of youth and through 2037. Only 5 barrels produced. — a month ago
