Cain Concept The Benchland Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2004

Nicely integrated tannins, the palate noticeably opening up in the first 15 minutes. Nice nose, with fairly high alcohol level masking the palate somewhat. A bit of cassis and pepper in the aftertaste. — 20 days ago

This was very nice! Classic Bordeaux all around. Refined with nice earthy elements. Medium depth and finish. Better values out there, but the tasting group really enjoyed. — 10 months ago

Penfolds

St. Henri Shiraz 2005

A Collection of great Australian Reds - Christmas break up of the Tennis Group. This was the wine I brought. I forgot to say all these wines were tasted blind. Only the owner of the wine knew the identity. This was a standout thanks to the vintage with a long life ahead of it. HH has a drinking window through to 2040. As well as the savoury liquorice accents like the 2007, this had plenty of red and black fruits. That was my 3rd of 6 - 3 to go. Next in a couple of years if I have the willpower. — 2 years ago

2008 was a warm year in South Australia and I see varying drinking windows. The Rewards of Patience says 2021 to 2045. Harvey Steiman said 2015 to 2025. Looks like a drink or Hold.

Barolo Nebbiolo 2020

Delectable Wine
9.2

Diego Conterno’s 2020 Barolo is, once again, a terrific wine in its peer group. Deep, fleshy and super-expressive, the 2020 is ready to go. Crushed rose petal, spice, blood orange, menthol and cedar are front and center. Vibrant, fleshy and terrifically balanced, the 2020 is an absolute delight. I loved it.
