Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande
Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend
Tasting Group. My 6th, group 6th. BD distanced tasting @ Corison Winery. Weedy, mint. Leaner and meaner. Relatively fast. Next day: developed a lovely floral perfume. Still hard. One for the ages.

Aug 11th, 2020Rich blueberry and black fruits. Silky and soft tannins. It is similar to the 89 vintage. Seems like the perfect amount of Merlot was blended in here. Huge complex aromas of peppermint, lavender and tea. This bottle is great but not showing as well as the first one I opened. Still remains one of the best wines from Bordeaux/Pauillac. Tasted 4/22/20

Apr 23rd, 2020The 2015 Pichon Lalande has a sophisticated bouquet of blackberry, pencil shavings, black pepper and discreet touches of wild mint, all beautifully defined and focused. There is some quality Cabernet here. The palate is medium-bodied with
fine-grained tannin, superb acidity, gentle grip and satisfying tension toward the fresh, vivid finish. One of the best Pauillacs of 2015, this is a magnificent wine from Nicolas Glumineau and his team. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, July 2019)

Bright, clear ruby with a great nose of cassis, blackberry, violet and mint.
Beautiful length and finesse. Great impression of crushed fruit with hints of forest floor and cedar. The finish leaves a lasting impression of sweet red fruit and supported by a soft blanket of tannins. This is the proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove - just lovely

Just tried their 2nd label “Reserve de la Comtesse” which was great and approachable now, this one needs time! Pichon Longueville estate goes back to 1688. Aromas of complex fruit, herb, spice and graphite notes on a blend of 68% Cab Sauv, 29% Merlot & the rest CabFranc & Petit Verdot, note higher Cab% as Merlot struggled to fully ripen. On the palate an array of black fruits, spice, tobacco, leather & toasty oak. Very tight tannins, lingering, a perfect wine. Don’t touch this until 2025! Tasting Sample!

1 person found it helpfulJun 28th, 2018Legendary Pichon. Extremely slutty. This is similar to the 89 vintage. A rich wine with many layers. Dark fruits galore with just the right amount of mineral notes.

1 person found it helpfulApr 6th, 2018Elegance personified. Pichon Comtesse always brings the feminine side of Cabernet out. Unique with its high amount of merlot on the left bank. So enjoyable to drink this in the tasting room with views of its neighbor Chateau Latour and the Gironde River in the background.
