Chateau SABY

Superieur Bordeaux Merlot 2018

Last night the wine of the evening was the 2018 Château Saby Bordeaux Superieur. Right Bank Fronsac, Saint Aignan Gironde France. 100% Merlot.

On the nose there is black cherry, black raspberry, plum, black currant, herbaceous, black pepper, mint, vanilla and crushed gravel.

On the palate is black cherry, blackberry, pomegranate, plum, herbal notes, black currant, black tea, menthol and gravel.

This is a medium+ to full body with a smooth velvety mouthfeel medium +acidity and medium + soft fine tannins which leaves you with a medium to long juicy dark fruit earthy finish. I hope your weekend is starting off right and are enjoying some wonderful wines. Have a great rest of your weekend and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Excellent winemaker. Their rosé is my favourite. And the main Bandol Mourvèdre is always a winner in my book.

@Raun Kupiec I visited them this summer. Very good quality and indeed, their rosé is fabulous. I also bought the Chateau Pibarnon 2019 which I will be opening soon

I was there about 10 years ago. Beautiful spot up in the hills. Rang the bell at the door. And they were really nice and talkative as we tasted.

Château Tertre Daugay

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

Nice bottle for $50.00, decant an hour so & you’re set
Info I found on the dark web as follows,

This property possesses 16 hectares of vines (60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc) and was purchased in 1978 by Comte Léo de Malet Roquefort, the owner of Château La Gaffelière. In June 2011 it was acquired by the Clarence Dillon group, which also owns Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion. Its new owner decided to rename the property, starting with the 2011 vintage. Château Tertre Daugay, the fifth cru classé to be acquired by the Clarence Dillon group, became Château Quintus. The property is located on a high promontory that forms the edge of the Saint Emilion plateau. It commands a panoramic view far into the distance of the surrounding villages and the Dordogne Valley. It is here that, since time immemorial, a watchtower has stood to guard the village of Saint Emilion. The exceptional microclimate is due to the area's diversity in terms of soil, slopes and orientation. Consequently, it comes as no surprise that in 1844 and 1848 the wine was among the 14 most sought-after and expensive in Saint Emilion. For nearly a century, Bordeaux et ses Vins, the standard reference work produced by Cocks and Féret, listed the property as a Saint Emilion Premier Cru. The property was also one of the prestigious vineyards in Saint Emilion to win a gold medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1867.

Bandol Rosé Blend 2022

Best rosé I ever had in my life. Also the most expensive one 🤣 totally another ballgame than the rosé wines I’m used to drink. This is complex, juicy and made for food — 2 months ago

Château de Pibarnon (Comte de Saint Victor)

Bandol Mourvedre Blend 2019

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.

Fruity nose of red fruits with earth, herbs and chocolate notes.

Dry and fruit forward on the palate with raspberries, cherries, peppercorn, spices, coffee, dark chocolates, earth, light cedar, tobacco leaf and herbs.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Mourvedre from Bandol. Elegant and nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.

Drinking beautifully now, although still young, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.

Complex and delicious right now. Good by itself or with food.

A blend of 90% Mourvedre and 10% Grenache. Aged for 22 months in large French oak barrels.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$75.
