St-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil Vieilles Vignes Cabernet Franc 2020

Was so surprised at this one! Got it for a friend who loves Cab but is going to the Loire Valley and I wanted to show her a good expression of the reds from that region. Was delicious - easy to drink on its own or with food. Already bought a second bottle! $22. — a month ago

Puszta Libre! Burgenland Zweigelt St. Laurent

austrian pinot noir?

it smells sweet. it tastes tannic, sour, slightly funky. it has notes of black cherry, raspberry, vanilla and oak. this is an easy chillable red to drink.

i paired with pad thai. the juicy tannic flavors cut through the rich nuttiness of the pad thai.

Smooth, cherry, a bit of earth. Nice finish and complexity for a drinkable wine — 2 years ago

Au Bas de Combe Vieilles Vignes Nuits St. Georges Pinot Noir 2010

Really impressive on opening. Tastes like a Pinot noir should. Cherries, rose, a bit of fern like hiking in CA redwood grove, there’s some strawberry, some dust, plum skin. Interestingly the aftertaste, maybe 20 seconds later suddenly has a sweetness to it that I really enjoy. Drinking really well now on opening. Grateful to try this. — 3 months ago

Vieilles Vignes Nuits-Saint-Georges Pinot Noir 2013

2013 | Pinot Noir
Domaine Robert Chevillon; Village Vieilles Vignes
Burgundy; Côte de Nuits, Nuits-Saint-Georges, France
(91-93; drink 2028-38)

Lots of powerful cherry and stem-like notes from a standard vintage, not a glass I'd pass over.

Paired to duck confit (D'Artagnan) over green/red lentils with a hit of Dijon mustard to get the acid balance to perfection.

There are few pairings better than Duck Confit & red burgundy.

First taste? That typical purple color but nose is well resolved with primary fruit having evolved into an intriguing dark berries earthy profile with a tinge of mintiness. Lovely and lively palate. Nice. — 3 months ago

Domaine Laurent Gauthier

Vieilles Vignes Grands Cras Morgon Gamay 2021

Leans into its carbonic character, with a confectionary nose of bright cherry-plum bubble gum, loads of granite, and almost a subtle just-dug root vegetable note. In the mouth it has an initial belt of high/toned fruit, but then slims down and eases into a lean feel, with fine, chalky minerality being the last characteristic. Definitely on the lighter side but quite flavorful. Seems a little disjointed and would probably benefit from another year or so in the bottle to come together. — 4 months ago

Vieilles Vignes Gigondas Red Rhône Blend 2016

Quite contained 30 minutes after decanting. Stewed plums and black pepper. Very savoury and earthy on the palate - prunes showing through. Fine yet firm tannins to finish off. Good value coming from Gigondas. Love this style of wine. — 2 years ago

I adore this winery. Defined try their other wines, especially the Cote Rotie and CdP Cuvee Speciale (100% Grenache)

I bought the Gigondas in a mixed dozen all from the 2016 vintage. Will look forward to trying the Cote Rotie and the CdP in the near future.
