16’ Peter Michael Cuvee Indigene.
Do yourself a favor & decanted this in a cellar for 60- 90 minutes.
Intense nose of mineral, dried apricot, peach.
WOW… Rich pear, fig, butter, honeysuckle, hazelnut, Banana foster, 4/10 acidity.
Flipping sick!
Wish I had a case of this.
No problem holding onto this wine for another decade. — 4 years ago
Sampling this new addition to my collection, which is also my very first Kavalan. On the nose it closely resembles bourbon, with notes of caramel, holiday spices, dark chocolate, and creme brûlée. On the palate, however, it’s a bit more stern and less suave than I anticipated with notes of worn saddle leather, toasted nuts, clove, espresso, and bananas foster. The finish is quite warm. — 4 years ago
I have long been a fan of St. George for a long time, and this confirms my high opinion of them. Nose of rye spice with vanilla and bananas foster, and on the taste, honey-sweetened tea with clove and pepper, masala tea spices, oak, and bitter chocolate. Orange emerges immediately on the finish with subsequent honey. — 4 years ago
2002 Half Bottle of ZH Clos Windsbuhl. Indice 3. 18 years of Half Bottle age have brought this wine into the beginning of its peak drinking window with likely another 5-10 years left before seeing any declines. Bright acidity of lime skin & lemon pulp. Apricot, Peach, yellow apple, caramel, banana foster, hint of honey. Slightly off-dry but perfectly balanced with a finish that lasts for miles — 4 years ago
I’ll be frank people. Your organic, orange wine pet-nat stuff is all well and good. But a classically constructed, traditional left bank Bordeaux is the highest expression of what wine can be and that is simply that. Branaire-Ducru’s 2015 is an intense plummy, jammy, rich delight. Like bananas foster, baked Alaska, or roasted prime rib. It’s classic, old fashioned, and so good that new fashioned simply cannot compare. Merci Patrick Maroteaux for sticking with the tried and true. — 3 years ago

Amber tinged head atop an amber, auburn clarity. Light bananas foster turns up the rum-sage on the nose, then brings peanut oil, and allspice. Peanut brittle and dark brown sugar nestle inside rye toast, brioche and a bittering savory whisper. Pleasant interplay of malt and bitter, but always with a slightly honeyed finish.
