Vincent Dauvissat

Les Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2007

Decant your white burgs! This improved so much with air. There’s such power and verve with incredible depth and seamlessness of its layered Chablisen minerality, with buttercream, roasted hazelnuts and an ocean spray-like salinity. It’s texturally captivating, wrapping around the palate with killer density without weight. Racy acids balance its richness and secondary nuttiness and it finishes forever. Excellent. — 11 days ago

Domaine Armand Rousseau

Clos St. Jacques Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 1999

A fantastically complex and profound nose. Dark gnarly fruit, some black cherry and complex herbal notes. Lovely fruit and getting better by the minute in the glass. Glorious as always. — 6 days ago

Clos Rougeard

Le Bourg Saumur-Champigny Cabernet Franc 2018

Clos Rougeard Le Bourg 2018 (Magnum)

Deep ruby in the glass. The bouquet is truly very fine: refined and elegant, with aromas of cassis, black cherry and plum, lifted by graphite, tobacco and a touch of violets.

On the palate, the first impression is the velvety texture. The tannins are ripe and finely grained, well integrated into a wine that balances power with elegance.

The fruit is pure and lively, supported by fresh acidity and a clear sense of minerality.

The finish is long and harmonious, with dark berries and subtle spice lingering. Already impressive today, with plenty of potential to evolve further.

For me the best Le Bourg in years!

Domaine William Fèvre

Les Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2010

Super clean and light with steeliness and light lime color. Much fresher than the 09. Zippy with rock pools, green apple. Almost Riesling like in its precision. Light on its feet despite its depth. — 7 days ago

Domaine des Comtes Lafon

Clos de la Barre Meursault Chardonnay 2017

Definitely a wine that needs to be served closer to room temperature than the fridge and let breathe just a bit. Complex bouquet comes alive as it warms with key lime pie, caramel apples, white flowers, and Chantilly cream underlaid by chalky marl aromas. Awesome, but then again, you expect that in this price range from a premier cru. — 4 days ago

Wow. As good as it gets. Grippy where it needs to be. Fruit all day long. More of that aggressive and brutish (I exaggerate for effect) pommard style in contrast with it, Volnay. But remarkably approachable and really incredible. 2018. At Red Lion Inn. ( — 5 days ago

Clos du Val Wine Co.

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1975

A nice comparison of French St. Julien and French winemaker, in the US with a Napa Cab.
The 1972 vintage was one of the legendary five Cabs selected for the 1976 Paris Tasting.

This 1975, had a deep garnet color with a brick rim. Loads of blackberry on the nose, casis and earthy notes. Fruit forward, black fruit and plum dominate, nice tannins. This wine definitely evolved through the evening.

Previous Notes Apply to the 75 St Julien:
Deep ruby color. Aromas of red fruit, leather and earthy notes. Amazing flavors, blackberry, black currant, tobacco and baking spices.

Sometimes one just needs to be lucky one day and 85 year old guy showed up a the wine tasting in the store with a 1971 Mayacamas Vineyards Cab. An experience i never forget. Because of the wine and the store owner declaring me as underinformed when suggested it was in the tasting. The wine was good but fell apart within 15min.
