Emidio Pepe

Trebbiano d'Abruzzo 2015

Very good
I hadn't had the trebbiano from Pepe for a looong time and the feeling is still similar
It needs time to open up
When young the palate is better than the nose
It is long and enjoyable
What has changed in time is unfortunately the price and i wondered if that is due to the market or because it has been harder to source or work the grapes
I used to pay it less than 15 euros back in Italy and I understand that time flies, but here in Melbourne this is on the shelf for 140 dollars.
I thank
@Giulio Bignozzi for sharing this with me, but I struggle to realise the dynamics..or maybe I just don't want to.
For 30 or 40 euros I would be happy to buy and drink this, but for 140 dollars I would pick elsewhere perhaps
It is also a natural wine if I remember well and I reckon there should be a bit of ethic behind that too. Still a very good wine nonetheless, but i couldn't keep the critic for myself.

Emidio Pepe

Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Montepulciano 2014

First day it was better on the nose than in the mouth, but still pleasant and delivering the Emidio pepe basics of funk and fruit. The second day it shined, where it was much more full and refined. — 14 days ago

Vignafranca Montepulciano D'Abruzzo 2016

Dark purple with hue of ruby, cloudy. Nose of cocoa, vinegar, strawberry, aldehyde, spicy in the nasal cavity, quite powerful, and more aldehyde note from ripe fruits. Taste of good acidity, nice mellow tannins, earthy mineral, sweetness from strawberry, cherry, and grapes, chewy and tasty, zest and spice, dense and flavorful. Aftertaste of some more bittersweet mineral, peppery, medium. Nicely balanced, good flavors and tasty. — 8 days ago

Colline Pescaresi Pecorino 2018

Here it is another weekend. We have made it to another Friday and the weekend is upon us. I have opened the 2018 Colline Pescaresi Tiberio Pecorino from Abruzzo, Italy.

On the nose was very difficult to get the first readings until it came to room temperature. Once at room temperature I was able to get aromas of lime, yellow melon, almond butter, jasmine, sage and minerals.

On the palate the wine felt fresh with notes of lime, lemon, green apple, spice, floral notes, herbs, saline and a good minerality.

This wine is medium bodied with medium + to high acidity that leads to a long crisp, fresh, mineral, saline finish. The weekend looks to be a wonderful one that brings in a great fall season. Please stay healthy and safe and have a great fall weekend. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂
